Naomi fired three consecutive shots. It was impossible to dodge those three shots in his current state. That was common sense.
However, the instant that everyone thought the match was decided, Kizuki's body suddenly turned to a puff of smoke, and vanished.
“Looks like I wi— Wh-What is this?!” Naomi muttered in a stiff voice.
…Il-Illusion—?! He is at that level?! Impossible.
Naomi that was about to declare her victory, at loss for words.
The classroom filled with awe. All of students turned speechless.
That was Kizuki’s illusion that had been played all along since from the very beginning of the match without Naomi noticing it, same goes for the audience; the girls. Ayaka didn’t seem to be surprised, smiling as if she noticed Kizuki’s trick earlier.
A sweat-drop could be seen trickling down Naomi’s forehead.
Suddenly, a voice, inches away—coming from behind of Naomi…
The real Kizuki was already behind Naomi, standing in a distance away in the class.
“I’m sorry, but I won.”
“H-H-How could this be—?! How dare you—”
Shocked by Kizuki’s presence behind her, she quickly shifted her gaze, facing at her back to Kizuki’s direction, and chanted her freezing spell once more.
“With the power—”
But—
“Too slow—! Freeze!”
—Kizuki was the one who managed to land a strike hitting Naomi with the freezing-ice spell with just—just only one word instead of the whole phrase of the spell, [Glaciate].
Failed to respond in time, Naomi took the direct hit at her chest.
A solid shiny material started building up, covering Naomi’s body, swallowed her whole body turned her into solid ice. She glared at Kizuki. She was totally immobilized and speechless; couldn’t properly worded a sentence…
“——y-y-you——re-regre——thi-this——H-Hwalp——C-Cwald——”
“Okay, that’s enough! Victory goes to Izumi-san!”
As Ayaka announced Kizuki’s victory against Naomi, she then dispelled the solid ice that held Naomi still like a statue with a dispel spell, [Magic×Dispel].
“Disperse.”
The solid ice that engulfed Naomi then dispersed just like that with Ayaka’s single word.
“T-Th-Thank y-you, A-Ayaka-s-sensei—Achoo!”
Naomi fell on her feet, sneezed, shivering due to the chilling cold state a little while ago.
The girls witnessed the scene with amusement. Chatters filling up the classroom.
“Ishikawa-san——lose?”
“That one—half-hearted chanted word——”
“That illusion—”
“Tier 6 Dark Magic—?!”
“What a match—”
“Th-That’s cheating! H-How d-dare you cheat even in a mock battle—!”
Yelled Naomi loudly while recovering from her cold.
“Huh—? Cheating? Ayaka-sensei didn’t restrict us from using certain spells. Don’t you hear her instruction?”
Kizuki shrugged his shoulders and gave Naomi a grin.
“That’s true. Looks like you need to pay more attention to the instruction next time, Ishikawa-san.”
“I-I supposed…”
Realizing her mistake, overlooked something that was clearly stated by Ayaka from the start before the mock battle, Naomi nodded submissively.
“As expected to see this outcome from a top student like you, Izumi-san. Splendid!”
“Ahaha… no, it’s nothing, Ayaka-sensei. I’m just trying my best from what I’ve learnt.”
“Hmmph—! You’re just lucky.”
“Now, now… hot-headed girl—”
“Sh-Shut up—! Stop calling me that!”
Naomi marched towards her seat, annoyed, and reluctantly bear the embarrassment also admitted defeat after losing to Kizuki in the mock battle.
“Are you alright, Naomi-chan?”
Yuki anxiously started to check on Naomi that returned to her seat.
Kizuki-kun is impressive. This will be very interesting.
Chizuru at her seat paid a whole lot attention to Kizuki. She seems pleased by the outcome of the event during this third period of the class.
The mock battle conducted by Ayaka in Class 2-A went pretty well despite Naomi’s embarrassment as a top student of magic academy losing to Kizuki; a new transfer student that was from another magic academy.
This was a ‘good’ start for Kizuki on his first day at the academy.
