"How could you let this happen?!" thundered an angry Junhee.
His hand clamped tighter around Kwan's throat. It didn't matter how much the younger male grabbed at his hand; he refused to let go, and it only infuriated him more.
"There were... Were only four of us and we were outnumbered." Chan trembled from his spot, that was far away from his leader's wrath. "We were surrounded, and their attacks only became more powerful as time went by. Donghun attempted to defend Byeongkwan, Sehyoon and I, as best he could, but one of them took him by surprise and injured him severely."
"Somehow we got away, and now we're back here. Please have mercy on us, Jun."
Junhee breathed in and closed his eyes. It was taking all he had not to rip Kwan's head off his shoulders. However, he knew that what happened to Donghun wasn't their faults; it was the Elders who had injured him.
He wanted to storm the castle and take vengeance for his brother, but he couldn't. Nari was still in the castle, and if he went there, he would risk exposing her. He couldn't lose her to them again. Not when she had just returned to his side.
Byeongkwan crashed to the floor, and he clutched at his neck to check if there was any damage. There wasn't, but it still didn't stop him from feeling the pain that would have come with getting your windpipe crushed.
"Byeongkwan and Chan, you will remain here and take care of Donghun. Sehyoon, you..."
That was when Jun noticed that there was someone missing.
"Where's Sehyoon?" He turned hardened eyes in Chan and Kwan's direction. "Do I have to repeat myself? Where is he?"
"He's..." Kwan rubbed his neck, and then he glanced at Chan with pleading eyes.
"It wasn't until we got out of the castle, that we noticed that Sehyoon wasn't with us." Chan started to explain, "Byeongkwan stayed with Donghun, and I sneaked back in the castle to see if I could find Sehyoon, but I had no luck. He wasn't anywhere to be seen. We brought Donghun back here first because of his injuries being worse than we had thought. And we assumed that Sehyoon would find his way back on his own; however, he never did."
"And you didn't think to mention it to me?" Jun placed his hands by his sides, and he was struggling to not hurt the younger males. "We're a team, and you didn't consider Sehyoon significant enough for me to know that he had disappeared?"
"It wasn't like that!" Kwan protested. "We were concerned about Donghun, and we all know how well Sehyoon can look after himself. He's one of our greatest fighters, and he can win over anyone. We just assumed that Donghun would require our help more. We're sorry."
Jun couldn't hold back any longer, and just before he could launch himself at the quivering males, a hand gripped his arm.
"Jun, forgive them, ok?" A small voice pleaded with him. "They were in a situation where they couldn't think straight, and they only did what they thought was best. Cut them some slack, all right?"
Jun whirled around and glanced down at the girl who was staring at him with her saddened eyes.
"Sehyoon might be a good fighter, but there is only one of him and a whole army of them." He grabbed hold of the girl's shoulders. "How could he survive that? It only takes one swing of one of their blades, and he'll lose his life all over again. How can I not be angry? Each one of these guys are like my brothers, and it hurts to imagine that they could be gone one day. What else am I supposed to do?"
"Calm down first and think about this rationally." She took his hands off her shoulders and held them in her smaller ones. "If they are like your brothers, then at least spare them from your anger. If the Elders don't kill them, then it might even be you who commits the act one day. Just please, think about what you're doing."
She hadn't meant to scold him, but his actions had bothered her more than she thought they would. How could she sit back and watch as he turned into a man just like her father?
"Fine." Jun conceded and then he noticed that she was dressed like she was going somewhere. "What are you planning on doing?"
She stiffened at his glare, and she looked anywhere but at him.
"I'm going back."
