That was when she forgot her name. When the Void spoke words for a second time. “Pledge to me. Your wildest dreams shall come true. You can wish for anything. But you must never tell anyone about me. I must feed on fear. Cause fear in the world.” Rowan hesitated, then kneeled. “I pledge my soul to you.” Then her mind went blank of everything about herself. She remembered other things like her family, but anything about her was gone. Including her name. “You are now a part of me.” A wisp of blackness rose from the Void. It twirled around the room and she watched it. Then it floated towards her. It melted into her mouth. Then it was gone. “There, you now have a part of me in you.” The Void stayed silent the rest of the time she was down there. She explored the cave, which split off into other caves as well. This is where she spent most of her time. She brought down prized possessions and decorated a cave. 

At school the next day, teacher's took attendance and she never said “here”. Her classmates pounded her for that. “Why aren’t you talking? Did you lose your voice? Are you sick?” No, none of those. She simply didn’t remember her name.
