Not So Secret Crush

Chapter 8, It Was Not a Dream

Chapter 8, It Was Not a Dream

Feb 13, 2023

Hello beautiful humans, and welcome back to another day in Levi's chaotic life.  I hope you enjoy it.

Levi's P.O.V

After a long day of waiting and checking the clock every five minutes, the bell finally rings, signalling the end of the day. I packed my things so quickly you'd think I was chased by something trying to kill me, but nothing of the sort. In about a couple of minutes, I got to see Kayden and spent the rest of the afternoon with him. It's going to be about school stuff, but I don't care. I'm just going to be with him.

I ran across the school, slowing down before reaching the front gate so I wouldn't look so crazy if Kayden were there waiting, and to my surprise, he was leaning against the wall, looking absolutely stunning with his purple hair glistening in the sunlight. Of course, it didn't help that the weather and the breeze were perfect, making it hard to breathe just by looking at him.

I shook myself out of my daydreaming and got closer to him. Feeling nervous, I could already imagine the teasing these nerves would put me through.

"Hi, sorry to keep you waiting," I said as Kayden looked up from his phone.

"It's okay. I was let out a bit early, so you were quick, actually." He looked at his watch, "it's been like 3 minutes since the bell rang. Did you run here?" He looked back at me with his evil smile again.

God, please help me. This man is going to be the death of me. Why is he doing this? He teases me at every chance he gets. It's like… nope, not going to think about it. It is usual for people to do that to everyone, right?

I look back at him to see his smile widen, and I realise I've been quiet for too long.

"W-what no, no, it's not that my class was closer to the gate, and we were let out earlier too, ahah." I lie through my teeth. Note to self, don't tell him what class you had because he'd know it's a lie, especially since the teacher is an asshole and would never let us go early.

"Oh really? Who did you have?" He asked, and my eyes opened so wide they almost popped out.

Oh no, he's going to know. Think Levi, think. You're supposed to be a genius. You're so useless.

"Um, shouldn't we start heading out? We should get there early since we have a lot to talk about?" That was the only excuse I could come up with at the moment. Seriously, who decided I was smart? They should get a reality check.

He looked at me and laughed, "yes, we should. Shall we?" He started moving towards the parking lot once he received a confirming nod from me.

"Aren't we taking the bus?" I asked as I questioned why we were going towards the car park.

"My dad dropped the car for me this afternoon. I was supposed to take it today anyway, but something came up. So we'll be driving there." He said as he took his keys out.

"Oh, okay, that's cool," I replied. This is worse than I expected. I am going to be with him, alone, in his car. I don't know whether to be happy or not. On the one hand, we wouldn't have to use the annoying bus since it would be crowded.

But on the other hand, we're going to be alone in a confined space where I can't escape. It's okay, you can do this, you got through when Jace almost broke up with Amari, and he clung to you so bad he wouldn't let you study that you almost failed. You got through when your mom found out you ate her ice cream. This is easy, this is fine…

Wait a second, I've been telling myself it'll be fine, and it's okay, a hell of a lot lately. I sound like a broken record.

We walked a bit more and got in front of a matte grey Audi RS7. My jaw dropped to the floor.

"This is your car?" I was amazed as I stared at the car like it was the love of my life. Which it was; I loved that car. The beautiful details and the sleek frame made it so elegant yet so sexy at the same time.

"Well, it's my dad's car, but he lets me use it. Wait till you see the inside." He said as he unlocked the door and got in.

I opened the passenger door, and I gasped. The inside of the car was black leather with gorgeous dark red stripes going across.

"Oh my god, that is amazing." I smiled as I got in and closed the door gently.

He smiled at me as he turned the car on, and the engine roared to life. That's what I am talking about, and I liked that sound. My smile got wider, and I looked back at him to find him already staring back with a gentle smile.

I blushed and looked away as my heart also roared to life, maybe louder than the engine itself. Why did he look at me like this? He is driving me crazy with his delicate features aimed towards me. But it makes me hope, and I know this is dangerous.

"Glad you like it. Shall we go?" He asked, and I nodded yes, not trusting my voice.

We left the car park and started driving. Kayden was focused on the road while I was sneakily gazing at him. Getting lost in his beautiful face, his smooth skin which I am dying to get my hands on, touching his cheeks, caressing them softly, while I lean to kiss his luscious lips.

"So," Kayden spoke, and I jumped in my seat. I was frightened by the sudden word.

"How was your day today?" He asked.

"Ah, it was good. Very slow, though. It felt like the day wouldn't end. How about yours?" I asked him back, and he kept his eyes on the road.

"It was good as well. I liked my classes today." Kayden smiled.

"That's good." I smiled back.

"But you know what they say?" He asked.

"What?" I asked back.

"They say when you're excited about something and can't wait for it. Time goes very slowly, and you feel like it'll never end." He smirked, looking at me briefly.

"O-oh r-really, that sounds interesting" I smacked myself mentally for stuttering again in front of him.

"Were you excited about something today, Levi, something you couldn't wait for, perhaps… me?" I looked at him, shocked, while my cheeks were burning like the fire building up in my stomach.

I kept looking at him, speechless, for almost a minute. Then he burst out laughing.

"Sorry, I was just teasing you. You should've seen your face. Damn it, I should've taken a picture." He kept laughing, and I smiled at how beautiful it was.

"Shut up," I said as I laughed and leaned to push him with my shoulder.

After we calmed down, we sat in silence, which felt awkward but comforting at the same time; it sounded crazy, but it was precisely what I felt.

"Should we put some music on?" He asked.

"Yes, that sounds nice." Then, out of sheer habit, my hands automatically reach out to the radio to turn it on, and our hands end up touching again, sending shock waves down my spine as the sparks fly like fireworks.

"S-sorry," I retracted my hand back in my lap. "I reached out of habit since I always do it when I'm in the car."

Stupid Levi, stupid. He must think you're an absolute idiot.

"It's okay, don't worry about it. I usually reach out automatically too." He said gently, which made me feel better.

We sit in silence, listening to the music when a specific song comes on, making me question fate and what it's doing to me. "Crush" by David Archuleta.

"Oh, that's a nice song," Kayden spoke as he reached to put the volume up.

We listened to the song, and the lyrics hit home for me. Why do I keep denying the way I felt? I keep thinking about all the time he pops into my head every chance he gets, and by the looks of it. This crush ain't going nowhere.

"So, have you had a crush that made you feel this way?" He asked, which surprised me, but surprisingly I stayed calm. I guess coming to terms with these feelings put me at ease for a bit.

"Hmm, not sure. It sounds intense." I replied calmly, avoiding any revealing answers.

"Yeah, it does. I can't imagine how the person must feel, loving someone so much but not being able to be with them. Sounds painful." He stated.

Yeah… I've got a painful time ahead of me.

A few minutes later, we arrived at the cafe. Kayden parked the car, and we left the car walking towards the cafe. The door opened, and the smell of coffee hit hard. I found it calming, I hated drinking coffee, but I loved how it smelled.

"Let's order first, and then we can sit down. What would you like to drink? Careful though. Your coffee choice says a lot about you." He teased.

I smiled at him. "I'll have hot chocolate, thank you. I don't drink coffee. I hate the bitter taste."

Kayden looked at me with a weirded-out look. "You don't drink coffee? Like at all?" I nodded at him.

"Are you even human?" He questioned, making me laugh.

"Yes, I am, and I just don't like it. It never worked for me, either. So I just stayed away. Not Jace though he's an absolute addict." I laughed at the memory of Jace's grumpy self when he didn't get his fill of coffee.

"Yeah, I don't think I'd be able to function without it."

We ordered our drinks and sat at a corner table away from everyone else. The cafe wasn't that crowded, but it had a fair amount of people. Thankfully the place was large enough that tables were farther away.

We start talking about the main topic as to why we are here today. We took out the materials and started planning from food stalls to performances to the flag parade. Australia had over 200 nationalities, so the multicultural day was a way to appreciate and celebrate the diversity, so we had to do it justice. After 2 hours of discussing every detail, we start wrapping up.

"Okay, so we'll hold auditions for the performances next week. We'll make an announcement and see who shows up. As for the food stalls, we will have a sign-up sheet as to who wants to bring food." I recounted our main points.

"Yes, it sounds good, I'll speak to the teachers to see who wants to supervise each stall so we don't have too much on our plate," Kayden said as he took the last sip of his coffee.

"Perfect then, we made a lot of progress today," I said as I stretched my body, feeling tired from sitting for too long.

Kayden looked at me, staring at my face for a while.

"What? Is there something on my face?" I asked as I touched my all over, ensuring nothing was weird or out of place.

"No, no. Nothing, I'm just… looking." He replied.

This sounds familiar… is this deja vu?

"Hey, wanna get out of here? There is something I want to show you?" Kayden looked at me, smiling.

Seriously this is all so familiar; what's happening?

"Yeah, sure, let's go." I smiled back, and we got up to leave the cafe.

He opened the door for me, and I thanked him, blushing. What a gentleman. I giggled mentally.

"We have to walk for a bit. Is that okay? It's not far."

"Yeah, that's fine with me," I told him, and we started walking side by side.

It was silent, and I felt like I couldn't say anything, so we walked peacefully until we reached a park.

"We're here, Kayden announced.

I looked around the park, and it was beautiful. It was away from the streets, so it was quiet and empty. The flowers were so vibrant, covering the grass. The trees swayed with the wind while the sun was shining brightly…

The dream. Oh my god, the fucking dream.

This looks exactly like my dream. I pinched myself to wake up, but I didn't.

I looked back at Kayden to see him also looking around, admiring the view and the breeze. He takes a deep breath inhaling the fresh air, and then he smiles. He looked stunning.

"This is my favourite place. It's away from the streets, so few people know about it. I always come here to get some fresh air and escape the world." He said with a sad smile on his face, and I wanted to hug him, but I had to stop myself.

"It is about stunning. Thank you for bringing me here." I looked back at the beautiful trees.

"Hey Levi, there is something I've wanted to say for a while or more like ask, Kayden said as he pulled me to sit down on the bench close to us.

I gulped as my heart went 200 beats per minute. It felt like it would jump out of my chest and run away, leaving me here to die painfully.

"What is it?" I was so nervous. What did he want to ask?

He opened his mouth and spoke, and I couldn't believe what I had just heard…
