Newly debuted actor, Sage Carter, is twenty-two years old and already deciding to start a scandal in his life which can be a dangerous thing to do. This morning, the Hot News Network received an anonymous email from a concerned citizen showing Mr. Carter leaning against another man’s shoulder, fully asleep.
The only thing is, it seems very intimidate between the two, it makes us wonder if this is a normal bodyguard/client relationship or is this new bodyguard actually a lover? Gay couples are becoming more and more common, especially with Mr. Carter’s role in His Bodyguard as the gay client, but is he wanting to live out an actual role in real life?
Sources won’t confirm the name of his bodyguard, but with time, I’m sure that Mr. Carter will give out a formal statement and tell us what everyone is wondering now.
Lover or bodyguard?
How about both?
Sage’s cheeks burn as he reads the damning article, wondering how people could be so stupid. The photo that had been sent of Sage sleeping is very misleading because it makes it seem like Dominic is a caring lover, wrapping his jacket around Sage, but Sage knows that he is just doing his job.
How stupid can people get?
“I’m sorry that you’re getting dragged into this.” Sage tells Dominic who is looking down at his phone, an unreadable expression in his eyes that Sage could see, “I should have seen this coming. It doesn’t matter what the truth is, people are going to misunderstand a situation even if it is innocent.”
Dominic simply shrugs his shoulders, unbothered.
Sage can’t help but smile, “nothing bothers you, does it?”
Like always, Dominic doesn’t say a word.
“Sage, I’ve seen the article.” Director Hans murmurs softly as he approaches them, eyeing Dominic suspiciously but he for sure knows that the article is not true, “I’m thinking that we are going to wrap it up today and then resume tomorrow. Sound good?”
“Yes, that sounds great, Director Hans.” Sage murmurs, rising to his feet now as he just wishes the ground will swallow him hole, “I will see you tomorrow then.”
Sage doesn’t wait for a response as he walks away from everyone, ignoring the eyes that seem to pierce through his soul. Dominic doesn’t say a word either, just making sure to keep a close eye out on everything, making sure that the stalker isn’t around. Dominic doesn’t see anything, nor does he think that anything is wrong. It’s a little odd, Dominic thinks to himself, but he will just need to be careful and keep an eye out for anything even more odd.
The ride back to the apartment complex is long and silent, Sage just staring out the window, wondering to himself if he really has any enemies who would truly think it is okay to take photos of him that aren’t true and have it plastered all over social media. He didn’t think that he is that much of a threat since he is a rookie actor, but it must be the case.
Hell, how did he really get into this mess?
“I’m ready for bed.” Sage murmurs quietly as Dominic pulls into the private area parking space, “once we get upstairs, I’m just going to head to my room and I don’t want to be disturbed as much as possible. Okay?”
Dominic simply nods his head as he turns off the car, leaving Sage to his thoughts.
Sage and Dominic head up to Sage’s apartment, Sage feeling like the day has really worn him down. The only thing that confuses Sage is he sees a man standing outside his door dressed in a mailman’s uniform, and a box in his hands. Dominic moves in front of Sage protectively, knowing that stalkers can wear different disguises to get to their victims.
“Mr. Carter?” The mailman murmurs, looking really indifferent and not like a stalker would be, “I need you to sign for this package. I came a few times to deliver it but you were still not here.”
Sage frowns, but he takes the notepad and signs the paper, “I apologize, I normally work pretty late. Thank you for coming back to deliver the package, sir.”
The mailman hands over the package to Sage after taking the notepad and walks away, waving a goodbye as he does so. Dominic wants to take the package, but he doesn’t want to cross a boundary with Sage. It doesn’t seem like it would be from a stalker either, so Dominic allows it. Sage walks into his apartment, seeing that everything is normal as he walks into the kitchen, setting the package on the countertop, trying to see who it is from.
Amazon, he muses, wondering if he has bought anything recently.
He doesn’t think so but he could always be wrong, or have forgotten.
Sage starts to open the package, seeing how it barely weighs anything, but the minute he opens the flaps, a loud BANG and his face is immediately covered, gagging slightly at the smell coming from it. Sage grabs a towel as Dominic rushes into the kitchen, and he wipes off his eyes, finally able to open it and see that the box is covered in a dark red liquid, and that liquid exploded in Sage’s face.
Is that blood, Sage panics, afraid to see anything else.
Dominic takes Sage’s hand and without a moment’s hesitation, is rushing him out of apartment. Sage can’t even protest, feeling numb, and feeling like everything has come crashing down. Dominic gets Sage in the car, not caring about the liquid because he just needed to get Sage out of there and somewhere he would be safe and protected. Sage can’t even think of something to say because he should have realized what was going to happen, and that it isn’t normal for a mailman to bring it that late, but Sage honestly believes that the mailman isn’t the stalker.
“Where are we going?” Sage murmurs softly, his heart thumping erratically in his chest.
Dominic doesn’t respond like usual, and he doesn’t even say anything as he pulls into a gated community. Even the guards at the gate don’t give Sage a second look as they open the gates and allow them in. Sage realizes that they must be heading back to Dominic’s place where Sage might be a little more safe. Sage’s heart softens slightly because Dominic did this without consulting him, but he knows that Dominic did it for his own protection.
Dominic ends up pulling into the driveway of a very beautiful house, and seems like a lot for just one person. Sage doesn’t think too much about it as he gets out of the car and follows Dominic to the house. Dominic still doesn’t say much as he unlocks the door and lets Sage inside. As Dominic closes the door, Sage’s eyes widen when he sees that Dominic has a high-tech security system.
“Wow, you’re really cautious, aren’t you?” Sage teases softly, but it comes out a little bit bitterly, “can I go take a shower?”
Dominic nods, and leads Sage through the gigantic house, Sage knowing that there is no way he is going to be able to see everything at once. At the top of the stairway, Dominic leads him into a bedroom that had to have been the size of Sage’s apartment at least, making Sage truly wonder how anyone could live somewhere so big. Sage can’t read the expression on Dominic’s face because of the mask, but Sage can believe that he is a little nervous.
Sage understands that completely.
Dominic motions to a door, still deciding to remain silent before walking out of the room. Sage decides not to wait much longer as he walks into the bathroom, trying to not even glance in the mirror because he can only imagine what kind of mess he looks like. He strips off his clothing, dropping them into the wastebasket before stepping under the hot spray of the shower, groaning softly at the nice feel of it, but he stills as he sees the water turning red due to whatever had been blasted in his face.
“FUCK!” Sage mutters as he crouches low, scrubbing his body and face as much as he can, tears streaming down his cheeks, “what did I ever do to deserve this?”
Sage can’t help but ask himself if this is truly the life for him, wanting to go back in time to a point when nothing else mattered, and nobody knew who he was. A point when he didn’t have to worry about a stalker, or have to flee his home to be safe.
Sage sighs, feeling the water start to go cold, and he crawls out of shower, drying off his hair and body before wrapping the towel around himself, needing clothing. As he steps into Dominic’s room, he heads to a dresser, hoping that Dominic won’t mind him borrowing some clothes.
Sage ends up finding a large white t-shirt that nearly falls to his knees, and a pair of clean boxers that are a little loose on him but they will cover the necessities. Since he is clean now, so he decides it is a time to go find Dominic.
It takes him a little while, but Sage ends up finding Dominic in what he could only assume to be a library or even a study. Dominic doesn’t look at Sage, just standing by the window and just staring outside. His mask is still on which makes Sage curious as to why Dominic wears a mask like that, but he doesn’t want to bring it up.
“I’m sorry that I dragged you into my mess.” Sage murmurs, sitting down on the couch, shaking his head, “even after my parents and everyone left me behind and told me that I wouldn’t accomplish anything, I still wanted to believe that I could accomplish much. That I could become a famous actor and do something that I love… I never thought that I would have a stalker who just wants to ruin my life… I didn’t want this…”
Sage bows his head, sighing.
“I love this job, I do, but I don’t know if it’s even going to matter anymore.” Sage whispers, closing his eyes as he rests his head on his knees, “I don’t want to be scared. I want to be an actor, I do, but I don’t want to be afraid anymore. What if he gets to me and really hurts me, Dominic? What if no one will be there to save me? I’m not sure what I’ll be able to do with my life afterwards, but maybe I’d at least be safe again.”
Sage hates dropping all of this on Dominic, but he just needs to say it aloud, and let it be real. His heart hurts a bit, wondering if that is something that he is truly going to have to do.
Sage didn’t even hear Dominic approach him so he jumps slightly when Dominic gently cups his cheek, forcing him to look at him. Sage gazes into his green eyes, feeling like they are piercing his soul, and it makes his heart stutter in his chest. Dominic does something next that he didn’t expect, and everything gets flipped upside down…
“Don’t worry, Sage, I will protect you. I promise. You will be safe.”
