Have you even seen a hungry vampire? To be more precise, a vampire, who hasn't eaten for two weeks. So a vampire without a conscience would attack the first person he met. A vampire with conscience would go to some prison and drink the blood of one of the prisoners. And Akiya belonged exactly to the latter group. However, having been a bit short of time lately, he was tripping over his own feet and afraid of ending up in the sun.
He didn't even notice when someone threw a so-called anti-vampire net over him. He turned around and looked into the eyes of a very ugly vampire with a red aura. The latter smiled maliciously, grabbed Akiya like a cat in a bag and ran ahead.
The attacker threw Akiya into some cell. Kawakami leaned against the bars and heard a familiar voice.
"How is it possible that vampires caught one of their own?"
"And how is it possible that the best conqueror let his preys catch them too?" Akiya turned around and saw Masashi sitting against the wall.
"Oh, don't be mean" said Masashi. "Two vampires surprised me and hit my head so hard that I've been uncounscious for three days."
"Your leaders didn't try to find you?" Akiya was confused.
"Those vampires took my transmitter" explained Masashi. "They won't find me that fast."
"Transmitter?"
"A device that can tell where someone is" replied Masashi. "This allows us to..."
Masashi stopped, because at this moment the door burst open and slender woman walked into the room. Her hair was black and long, almost to her waist. She smiled maliciously. Her slender body was covered with short white dress, white boots and long, white coat. The woman walked to the bars and Masashi could swear that if not for her red eyes, he would think that she's some angel, not a vampire.
"Hello, Mooney. We've met 100 years ago last time, right? Or maybe even earlier?" she asked, looking at Akiya, who closed his eyes out of fear.
"Megumi" he whispered after a while.
"Oh, is that your friend?" Megumi walked to Masashi, grabbed his ankle and pulled him to bars. "The best conqueror, very well. Shima and Moto did very well. Satoru will be pleased."
"Let me go, you old witch!" growled Masashi, trying to break free.
Megumi smirked and grabbed his wrist, stabbing his skin with her long fingernails. Blood ran down their fingers and onto the floor. The smell of fresh, innocent blood made Akiya dizzy.
"You were waiting for a good excuse to do this, weren't you?" he asked weakly.
"Of course, Mooney" Megumi smiled maliciously.
Tears streamed down Masashi's cheeks as Megumi finally removed her nails from his hand.
Akiya knew that it's his fault. Megumi has always been doing everything to make him lose his conscience. She walked over to him and stroked his cheek with her clean hand.
"Mooney, you won't hold back from attacking Ueno for long" Megumi smirked maliciously and offered him her bloodied hand. "Smell the innocent blood. Desire it. Kill an innocent person."
"No!" Akiya shouted and jumped to his feet. "For so many years you have been pestering me and provoking me! I thought I ran away, but you found me again. Go away!"
He fell to his knees and leaned against the bars.
"Please go."
"Fine, as you wish" said Megumi, standing up. "But if you don't do something, you'll end up dead. Well, you know, there's a window in here."
She pointed to it and sneered.
"And you, Ueno, will be a tasty snack for Satoru, when he returns from his trip" she said and left.
"Is this just me, or you're Megumi's child?" asked Masashi.
Akiya froze. So Megumi's acting and his words towards her were so obvious?
"You're right. She's my master" admitted Akiya, leaning against the wall.
"I understand" Masashi looked at the window. "I just wonder. If vampire drinks just a little of innocent blood, would they lose their conscience?"
"We have to kill this person to change our aura's colour" replied Akiya.
"So" Masashi put his bleeding hand to his mouth "drink some of mine."
"But what are you...?"
"I can see that you're struggling with walking properly and you don't have the strength to save us" explained Masashi. "And if you drink some blood, you'll break the bars and we'll both leave here safe and sound. They won't have to bury me and you won't turn to ashes. Worst case scenario, I'll have to have a transfusion or something, but you're not going to give me such condintion, right?"
Akiya thought for a moment. Well, Masashi was righ in some way.
"Do you really trust me so much?"
"Yes" confirmed Masashi and put his hand in Akiya's mouth.
His blood filled Akiya's mouth. He gently took Masashii's hand in his and began to drink the life-giving red fluid flowing from wounds made by Megumi . Masashi had bloodype 0 and although it wasn't A, it tasted different. So... innocent.
He released Masashi's hand and stood up. He walked to the bars and gently tugged them. They were in his hands right away. He threw them back, then threw Masashi's good arm over his shoulders.
"Should I take you to the Shelter or to the hospital?" he asked, worried.
"To the Shelter. I don't feel that bad" replied Masashi and fainted.
"Yeah, right. You're absolutly fine" Akiya shook his hand and carried Masashi to the hospital.
