Tracking the thief proved to be child's play, so easy that even a human could have done it. Havir had never been averse to quick and easy earnings, but here he wondered if it wasn't too easy. His doubts, as well as a sound mind, unfortunately rarely anchored with the mage longer than the next one in which he could mirror himself.
How had someone who was too stupid to cover his tracks managed to trick the elders like that?
The book emitted such magical energy that he could happily run after the fine little particles. In any case, his thief was not bright, that much was certain. When he stole a magical object, the first thing he did was to cast a spell. Humans could not recognize magical things, but every other being could. As soon as one recognized the value of the book, they would declare the hunt open. So Havir the Fair could only hope that his stupid thief had not yet encountered any of these beings.
