The castle of the strange count

The castle of the strange count

Feb 19, 2023

"Where did you hide them." Slowly he was getting impatient - he had no intention of spending the night in the creepy castle. It would be easy to take the book from the count, but until he knew where the elf was, he would rather not risk it. After all, he needed both to collect his wages. Too bad actually it would have been a very quick job if he could have done without them.

"There where I spoil all my favorites." a tug formed around the pretty lips that showed his state of mind.

"But you won't be able to have her until you tell me what she is."

"A gnome." he'd be damned if he'd encourage this guy's kinkiness by offering him an elf arrow in whose blood he could bathe.

"Don't play with me!" sheer hatred spewed out at him. There he was the real lord of the castle, the monster.

Havir had to suppress the impulse to twist the count's neck. For a long time he had longed to take from this man what he desired, namely his life. However, his hands were tied as far as that was concerned. He could not kill a person who did not threaten his life without losing his own. A nice little built-in spell for all those who were expelled. So they couldn't go around the human world assassinating. Which, apart from being too exhausting for him, was also far too dirty.

Havir tried to estimate how many of his men he would have to count on before he found the elf and what energy reserves he had left for a spell after turning them into some nice little rodent. He had spent the last few days in such nice female recognition that he hadn't gotten around to recharging. A sorry circumstance he was reluctant to fall victim to, in the form of something metallic sticking surprisingly in his chest.

"Answer me." torn from his thoughts he saw a sword point below his neck flashing in the light of the sun. Well so much for metallic human toys though, it was interesting that he hadn't seen it coming.

"Oh this is getting too stupid for me here! "Laughing, Havir raised a hand and hurled the first confused then shocked de Rais against the stone damp wall of the dungeon where he landed as an ugly spider.

Simply disgusting, the mage stepped over the ex-castle lord and could just barely restrain himself from stepping on him. He grabbed the book from the floor and put it into his black coat. The small magical particle mist the elf had left behind led him to de Rai's "gathering room" in no time. All along the way he had not encountered a castle guard or soldier, either the dear lord was so broke that he could no longer afford employees, or he had sent them away so he could devote himself to his new arrival in peace.

He could only hope for the sake of the villagers that his successor was at least halfway normal and only bothered his subjects with taxes, but not with stealing their daughters.

The heavy wooden door squeaked pathetically as he pushed it open, expecting to be attacked by a horde of guards. In the room, however, there were only a few women in selected noble robes, gossiping to themselves over small cakes and tea, except for one who was wildly cursing and trying to gnaw through her necklace in all seriousness. He received the attention of all the ladies. Havir decided to leave the elf for the time being and let himself be celebrated for his beauty.

"You what?!" after he finished bragging about his victory over de Rais, only one cheered the dirty little forest elf. The others were wrath red in the face.

"You idiot!" Shouting fishwife expletives, they lashed out at him.

He no longer understood the world.

"But I the Great Havir have freed you from your bondage!" he protested under the blows they were meanwhile performing with shoes and handbags.

"Liberated?! Are you crazy we live you like queens and all we have to do for that is look good for the lord!" roared the one.

"Am I supposed to herd sheep now?!" the other began to cry. The elf, however, whooped with happiness and wanted only one thing to be done. He woke up from the furies running wild and frowned at the metal ring around her silver neck, clearly the work of a mage. Not a good one, but at least good enough that the ring could not be removed and would probably remain on her neck until he found someone who knew about such things. The chain was human-made, so he could at least free her from it with an unchaining spell. After all, he didn't feel like dragging her and the floor-embedded wardrobe she was chained to across the country until they reached the transition to the mage world. He threw her over his shoulder and hoped that at the end of the teleportation he would not have any scratches on his excellent face, since the women were now coming at him with their nails.
