He had gotten used to men waking him up like that, but he expected different methods from women. Preferably without murderous instruments and without him having to glue them to a chair with a spell so they wouldn't slit his throat.
Sighing, he rubbed his forehead and looked at his thief. A scrawny girl with silver skin, silver hair, and eyes that looked funny, like there was something luminous hidden in them.
Hopefully the old man would come out of the village soon. Havir grabbed an apple and sat down with his new admirer.
Perhaps there was something in the Book of Salam about murderous elves. In his opinion, there should be a whole chapter devoted to such things, and he also suspected that her collar was meant to prevent such outbursts. With a snap of his fingers, the rather battered specimen appeared on the table in front of him.
Trolls, gnomes, dwarves, fairies, ghosts, after he already thought the old book would serve him only for making fire, he finally came across the section with elves.
Natural beings, peaceful, of beautiful slender shape. That was the description. Looking at what was sitting opposite him, he doubted the sanity of the author of this wisdom. Friendly that he did not laugh, that was mean dangerous!
"Blah, blah friendly beings, blah, blah draw their energy from nature, blah, blah." unnerved he looked up. The chapter was tiny and unrevealing. And she didn't exactly seem like she wanted to help him.
"Say, what did you want with that anyway?" interested, he pointed at the book.
The thought of what the elf wanted with the work had not even occurred to him. Elves had minimal magical powers, not enough to use the Salam's spells. So she must have stolen it for someone else. Perhaps for her lover?
Silently she shook her head and refused to tell him. Well then, he would have to find out for himself, and he would! Not for nothing he was called Havir, the mighty one!
"I can see we're going to have hour-long conversations about world peace." Defiant at his point, she demonstratively turned her back to him.
Bored, he leafed through the book until he came upon an illustration. Quietly he whistled through his teeth appreciatively.
