The shackles of taming

The shackles of taming

Feb 23, 2023

"The shackles of taming." so that was what was hanging around her neck.

The Shackles of Taming,

Banishing means for magical beings to prevent acts of violence.

When using them, be sure to activate the magical inscription with the spell of Salam. The shackles of taming can be removed only by mages who have cast the spell of Salam to activate it. A blue glow of the inner inscription to the outside testifies to the success of the taming. Without the glow, the taming is not fully protective. Strong emotions can lead to detachment.

The good old Salam, always a little security fanatic, in everything he had left to the magicians was his security mania. Like the blue glow when he succeeded. That explained the morning greeting. In the directory he found the spell and applied it.

"There you go." Well, he was simply the best. Quite without wanting to praise himself, he attested to his own genius. The good de Rais had apparently bought the thing from a dear colleague who had not quite explained to him how it worked. Satisfied, he leaned back in his chair. Now he would be safe from further morning surprises for the time being. Whistling happily until he dug into an apple.

The elf, on the other hand, cursing to his amused amusement, tried unsuccessfully to get the collar off. Phoenice realized that she would not get rid of the thing without him and changed her tactics. The book was still in front of him. It was her own fault, so she had to resort to blackmail. Faster than Havir could react, she cast an ancient spell over the pages of the book, allowing only the speaker to read it. For everyone else, the pages of the book were henceforth blank and thus useless.

Havir had to pull himself together strongly in order not to roast her on the spot. She was not human, so the cute little spell that kept him from killing did not apply to magical beings. But he needed her! At least until he found a way to override her spell or make her do it.

Phoenice saw her chance coming and made her demand for the disenchantment, she knew she was incurring his wrath, but she didn't care, she had to get to her goal and quickly. The choice of her methods played only a secondary role for her there.

"You will take me to Mius, after which I promise to release the book."

"Mius? Somehow I liked you better when you were silent." he grumbled, but was honestly surprised at her terms. Mius was probably the most boring village he knew of, what's more, it was located in the middle of the wasteland of the warlike southern part of the country. A trip there was more than dangerous, just too suicidal, if one disregarded King Tallus and his mage Barack, there was still the area and the inhabitants. If she was not killed by the warriors, the rebels or the peasants, there still remained the eternal forests with all kinds of wild animals during the long wanderings. Not even the outcasts who had lost their powers strayed into this area, even the people born there only stayed there if they had no other choice. So what could there be there that she incurred his displeasure, the displeasure of Havir the Great, the Beautiful, the Mighty, to get there.

"My sister, she needs help." He was going to sacrifice his beautiful butt to save her little sister?! No, no, one virgin rescue every thousand years was quite enough for him. He had expected at least a huge treasure, at her coercion to travel there.

"I'm not going to put my pretty face on your clan again."

"Your pretty face?!" so that's what he was all about?! Phoenice felt like someone had thrown a rock at her head, but that suited him. This guy was a vain, self-absorbed, egotistical goat!

"Not much can happen with you there." He replied sincerely, shrugging his shoulders, continuing to gnaw on the apple.

"Excuse me?!" she sparkled indignantly at him. What was that supposed to mean? Not much could happen with her? Such an outrageous thing! People from all over the world adored her and her sisters for their beauty. Then some mediocre magician comes along and declares that she is ugly?

"Well, there are plenty of you. I, on the other hand, am absolutely unique." Her jaw almost dropped.

That had sat! He had unerringly hit her sore spot, yes they were more than enough and yes they all looked the same.

"Thank the gods! The world wouldn't stand another one of your kind either!" she wouldn't back down. She had to get to her sister after Mius.

"You can teleport, can't you? Quick in, quick out, and you'll get your book." with him, Phoenice wouldn't get lost anymore and could get to Mariken faster. Plus, unlike her, he seemed to be able to fight whatever was lurking in her chest.

"I'm sure King Tallus' mage would be quite thrilled to have us invading his territory just like that." his voice dripped with scorn.

"But getting into the castle was no problem either!" She insisted.

"Listen little one, the castle was released by the council long ago. The realm of Tallus is off-limits! He took a mage years ago to satisfy his black desires and closed the land to other magical beings. It is punishable by death to enter there. I'd be surprised if it has remained undiscovered yet." Probably her dear little sister had long since been captured by Barack's and Tallu's minions, and what happened to them there he would rather not even know. Unlike de Rais, Tallu's territory was vast and he had fellow soldiers loyal to him. They would have to travel to Mius on foot without any help from their magical powers almost like those pathetic humans. That was out of the question. Havir the Great would not walk like an ordinary peasant.
