The loud voices swirling around my head as I try to understand them
"What's your name"
This voice sticks out. It is a sweet and gentle voice. I can tell it's a girl's voice.
My thoughts start to center on the voice. I look around trying to find who said it. It was a young girl. Looked about the same age as me, with long blond hair, a pretty face, slender body.
"My name's" I couldn't remember
"Your names what?"
"I can't remember"
" I guess you might have hit your head hard and had memory loss after they hit"
"After what hit?"
"I'll talk to you about it later, it's a sensitive subject and some people get mad when it's said"
"Since you can't remember your name, I'll give you one"
"I'll name you Shoro"
"Why that"
"I think it's a cute name, and my names Mia"
Come to think of it, I hadn't realized we were in the back end of a pick-up truck. I had been too focus on Mia to realize. The scenery all around me was just destruction. Hard to even tell people who once lived here. The building had collapsed destroying others. The moon shone down as the only light in this desolate world.
I asked Mia
"Hey is the rest of the world like this"
"Nobody knows"
"What do you mean"
"When they hit all the technology shut off"
"So it just stopped working?"
"Yep"
"How many people survived?"
"I don't know, probably not that many though"
"How many people are in your group"
"Probably 100"
"Where are the others?"
"Look, look, you're asking too many questions, you can see once we reach the base"
I just stared up at the starry night wondering what happened. One minute I was at the new year's party, the next I woke up to monsters all around and the world destroyed. What even happened?
My mind is lost in thought as I drift off.
"Hey wake up" Mias' voice
I sit up my body exhausted from what I just went through.
"What?"
"We're at Homebase"
We drove under a sign that read New Metropolis.
The base was more like a town. There weren't many buildings standing up. The area was surrounded by a large metal fence except for the open entrance. People with guns were guarding it. The inside of the base had the is set up all around. Stands set up as shops. In the back, there was a stable set up with horses and cars parked near it. Weirdly, I didn't see any hovercars, Oh right all the technology just shut off.
"Hey, Mia what's that big line of people over there for?"
"That's the line for the rations, people who stay at the base have to wait in line. Explores like us get meals right when we get back."
We were heading to the far back corner of the camp, there was a big house with trucks and cars parked around it.
"Looks like we're the last one back" A big and strong man yelled at us. He's probably the leader of this group.
The car parked next to the others and everyone got out. My leg was broken so I had to be carried out. It was kind of embarrassing being carried out in front of Mia. They carried me inside the building past tables full of people eating tasty food and up the stairs to a room in the back of the hallway. They set me down on the bed and Mia came in to talk to me.
"Tomorrow you'll be registered and can start your new life in New Metropolis."
Those were the last words I heard as I dozed off in the comfortable bed.
The world as I knew would never be the same after that day.
The world goes on as normal when suddenly missiles are launched across the world and it's set in the apocalypse.
