Chapter 13 Trust
It’s been a month now and Zera is making great progress with her magic but still seems to be having a hard time trusting me and my training methods. She gets very angry quickly without thinking clearly when she unleashes one of her outbursts when I have her do something dangerous. I may not be a great teacher but by now she should know I’m not trying to kill her. How can I get her to trust me should I ask Zack or Al for help with it.
“How am I supposed to know oh wise teacher?” The demon let out with a very over the top accent. Ok then I guess I should ask Alucard then I mean vampire’s are pretty wise usually He’s even related to a vampire noble so surely he can help me. “Just talk to them about it and see if that can give you some useful information to help her be more mellow.”
The next time Cel decied to train Zera before they began sparring Cel asked “why do you not trust me?” The question lingered in the air for a solid minute while Zera froze in place mumbling and muttering with her face contouring into confusion. “What do you mean teacher I do trust I have complete faith in you and your teaching”
“No you don't, you always complain, yell, shout, and beat me to a pulp whenever I try and teach you how to do something.” Cel let out as he stared at the ground with a somber broken face. Zera felt confused and didn’t understand why Cel seemed so upset about it but then her face seemed to darken as she realized something. She understood what Cel meant and why she subconsciously didn’t seem to trust Cel. She fell to the floor and started to curse under her breath before letting out a shattered laugh. “I still can’t get over it. I guess my trust in people is completely tied to that moment that’s so frustrating.” She let out in a tired voice defeated as Cel tried to understand what she said and come up with something to say. “So why do you have a hard time trusting people?”
“It’s a bit of a long story so I don’t think you’d want to listen.”
“We don’t have to train today so go ahead tell me why you don’t trust me”
“Alright then teacher this might take all day”
She begins to tell her story of why she longer trusts people. It all began with a lovely lovely wedding, It was her cousin's wedding and she was the flower girl. The wedding itself was fine but it led to something sad. Not long after the wedding the cousin’s partner fell ill. Shortly afterwards the cousin went mad searching for a way to help his partner. Eventually she just got healthy again after some rest. But although she was now healthy that lingering fear of death of their partner and themself did not leave them it grabbed onto them tighter. So one day on a trip they passed through a clearing in a forest where a pale man laid on the floor close to death. He begged them for help for he did not wish to die in such a manner and even offered eternal life if they helped him. The cousin felt very bad for the man and asked how they could help him, the pale man then replied with their blood. So they helped the man up and let him bite into their arms as he drank. He bulked up a bit and his paleness didn’t fade but it did make it look milky looking.
They then were taken to a mansion that belonged to this man and he introduced himself as Popiri. He let them stay at his mansion for a few days and explained that if they wished he could grant them eternal life by turning them into vampires. The cousin didn’t hesitate to say yes as they began the ritual that turned them into vampires. Once they became vampires though the vampire changed his tone and kept them locked up and made them severants. They were forced to steal the blood of other humans and return it to him. One day they make it back to their family to try and escape but then the thirst for blood overwhelms them. They can’t hold back; they haven’t consumed any form of food in months; they are paler than normal for vampires. The couple begin to drink from their families blood as Zera ran away terrified of what she saw she ran and ran being chased by her cousin. As she ran she looked back at her cousin, their eyes completely red and soulless without a hint of remorse and as she looked back Zera fell off a cliff escaping her cousin's thirst for blood.
Zera choked up and cried out as she flew off after telling her story she couldn’t fly for long though as her emotions threw her off the tune of the universe. Cel caught her and took her to room tucking her in leaving and heading towards Alucard to ask some questions. It was a very long talk they had in private about his cousin and where he was hiding. Alucard explained how hadn’t seen that guy in years because a decade or two ago because he attacked Popiri but Popiri managed to escape using space time magic. Which allows for teleportation or alterations of the surroundings considered one of the most dangerous types of magic. While they were heading to the guild hall to make a request they overheard something interesting that a small party was discussing. “You think those weirdos really exist”
“I'm certain John. I saw one of them during a quest. They were carrying a metal emblem that had a dragon, skeleton, an angel, and some strange beast.”
“Ok but don’t they attack anyone that sees them, how did you escape Bill.”
“Well ellen, I got very luck because they didn’t seem to notice me”
“I just don’t believe it though that you seen a vampire lord being a part of that organization”
“Neither do I but I’m certain I saw them and they were trying to get members as well by saying stuff like “Help us revive the one true god ""praise the lord” which is odd.”
“Where did you see this again bill also why would a vampire worship a god when they hate holy magic”
“It was around the western edge of the kingdom”
After listening into the conversation Alucard and Cel rush off after hearing that last part of the conversation just in that vampire lord was Popiri. They fly out the doors of the guild at mach speed not dropping in speed in the slightest as the air unleashed an explosion of sound over and over again. The wind shattered through the pressure of their wings as they kept going faster and faster, not stopping at all. The two soon got into a rhythm of flight as their minds soon settled and wandered.
Well this turned out to be a great opportunity for me. I can finally give Popiri the payback he deserves after what he did to me. Guess it’s a good thing I teamed up with those three and to them it looks like I’m just helping a friend get over their trauma. Well this’ll be fun even alone I can beat him but with this guy he’ll be vaporized to bits. I don’t think I’ll ever get over what he did to me ten thousand years ago. It took me so long to break free from what he did and even after I had to reclaim my power that I lost and for that he will pay dearly. He broke my trust that day he will learn true pain once again for that.
