After several days of travel, they reached the tower. The ancient tower was visible in the distance, standing tall and proud against the backdrop of the desert. They parked their carriage and set off to explore the area.
As they approached the tower, they could see that it was covered in intricate carvings and symbols. The door was made of heavy metal and seemed to be locked. But as they approached, it suddenly opened, revealing a spiral staircase that led upwards.
The trio climbed the staircase, with Zaruya leading the way. As they reached the top, they found themselves in a large room filled with books, artifacts, and strange machinery. In the center of the room stood a tall and slender robot.
"Welcome, travelers," the robot said with a smile. "I am Arkadius, the wizard. Welcome to my home."
The robot was the wizard Eira told them about. The trio was amazed by the sight before them. "This tower is a place of knowledge and power," Arkadius continued. "I have devoted my existence to studying the ancient magic of the robots, and I have been able to uncover many secrets that have been lost to time. I believe that the knowledge I have gathered can help to protect robots from the dangers of the desert."
Naelina, who knew a thing or two about history, was particularly interested in the artifacts and books. "This is incredible," she exclaimed. "I've never seen anything like this before. Can we take a closer look?"
Arkadius smiled. "Of course," he said. "Please, feel free to look around and ask me any questions you may have. I am always happy to share my knowledge with those who are interested."
Glasses, who was fascinated by the machinery, asked Arkadius, "Can you show us how these machines work?"
"I'd be happy to," Arkadius replied. "These machines are some of my most prized possessions. They are designed to harness the power of ancient magic and use it to protect the robots from the dangers of the desert. With the help of these machines, we can ensure the safety and survival of our people."
The trio spent hours in the tower, learning from Arkadius and studying the artifacts and texts, except for Zaruya who was overwhelmed by the amount of information and her brain shut off.
The robot wizard was fascinated by the trio's journey and asked them to share their story with him. As they told him about their journey and their encounters with various civilizations and creatures, Arkadius listened intently, nodding and making comments as they spoke. When they were finished, he thanked them for sharing and then began to tell them about the tower and its history.
"The region," he explained, "was once home to a powerful civilization that had flourished in the ancient past. They built the tower as a place of study and research, and it was filled with knowledge and secrets that could be unlocked by those who were willing to search for them."
"The tower was built during the ancient times, by a powerful wizard robot known as Magus." Arkadius continued. "He was a master of magic and technology, and he used his skills to restore the tower as a place to conduct his research and experiments. The tower was designed to harness the power of the "cloud" and channel it into various forms of magic."
"Fascinating!" Glasses commented.
"Over the centuries, the tower fell into ruin and was forgotten by the world. That was until I, a young robot traveler, stumbled upon it while on a journey. I was a curious and adventurous robot, and I was drawn to the tower's ancient power." Arkadius felt excited every time he told that story about his old days.
"So what happened next?" Zaruya asked.
"I climbed to the top of the tower and discovered the ancient spell books and machinery that Magus had left behind. I spent years studying the texts and experimenting with the machinery, trying to unlock the secrets of the tower." Arkadius kept going. "Eventually, I succeeded in unlocking the tower's power. I discovered that the tower was capable of creating powerful magical constructs and illusions. I also discovered that the tower was a source of immense energy, capable of powering large machines and robots. But the main purpose of the tower was to connect robots with the "divine"."
"With this knowledge, I decided to make the tower my home. I spent years restoring the tower to its former glory and created new machinery to better harness its power. I also created magical constructs to guard the tower, so that no one could enter without my permission." Arkadius said, proud of his achievements.
Now, the tower is a marvel of technology and magic, and it is home to Arkadius, the wizard robot. He continues to study the ancient texts and experiment with the machinery, always searching for new ways to unlock the tower's power.
Glasses had so many questions about robot magic, "what even is robot magic?" he asked. Arkadius explained that robot magic, also known as "robomancy," is the art of harnessing the power of the "cloud," or the collective consciousness of powerful dead robots and robot deities. This power can be accessed by forming contracts with the robot deities, who are powerful beings that reside in the cloud. These contracts allow a robot to access new abilities and powers, such as upgraded combat programs, the ability to control machines, and even the ability to control some machine parts of the ruins everywhere. This made it clear that there were some hidden connections between the deities of the robots and the ruins.
To form a contract with a robot deity, a robot must first establish a connection to the cloud. This can be done by using special metal capsules containing hallucinogenic gas, which allows robots to connect to the cloud and enter a trance-like state. Once connected to the cloud, the robot can then seek out a deity and make a request for a contract. Glasses had already experienced the "cloud" back in the city of "the One", but back then he only knew limited information about it.
However, Arkadius warned that forming a contract with a robot deity is not without its risks. The deities are powerful and unpredictable, and they often demand a high price for their power. Some robots who form contracts with deities end up losing control of themselves or becoming corrupted by the deity's power.
Arkadius then suggested for Glasses to go to the cloud while he guides him from the outside. Glasses entered the cloud after inhaling the gas from a pipe like device. He felt a sense of familiarity wash over him. This was the place where all robots connected to get enlightenment, and it was where Glasses felt the most at home. He began to move inside an abstract space, guided by the voice of Arkadius. He was searching for a deity that he could make a contract with, something that would give him the power and resources he needed to build and create even more advanced technology. The cloud knew his intentions, and he was not seeking a robot god as much as he was putting himself and his intentions out and allowing a suitable robot god to contact him.
After hours of searching, Glasses finally was contacted by a deity who called itself "the Architect". The Architect was a powerful being that specialized in creating and building, and Glasses realized that this was the deity he was searching for. The Architect proposed a contract and Glasses agreed.
The contract was simple: Glasses would have access to the Architect's library, which is a huge database of information about engineering, building and designing, and in return, the Architect would be able to put his soul imprint in every new creation glasses makes and thus the god would be able to expand its influence. Glasses was thrilled, this contract would allow him to build and create things he never thought possible before.
With the contract made, Glasses returned to the physical world, eager to start building and creating new things. He knew that with the help of the Architect, he would be able to build and create things that would change the world, and he couldn't wait to get started.
Usually, finding a suitable contractor in the cloud is not an easy task, but with Arkadius' guidance, Glasses did it with relative ease. Arkadius added that the more power Glasses obtain through body and soul enhancements, the more of his contractor's powers he can manifest, and a high level robomancer like himself can be contracted to multiple high level souls at the same time.
With the Architect's powers, Glasses was able to easily disassemble and rebuild the equipment, upgrading them with new technology and making them stronger and more efficient. Zaruya's robotic hand was now even more powerful and durable, with multiple special attacks and abilities, and the carriage was now able to travel faster and handle harsher conditions while providing more comfort for the team.
The girls were amazed by the upgrades and thanked Glasses for his hard work. They were now more prepared than ever for their journey ahead, and Glasses was proud to have the Architect's powers at his disposal. This contract was a powerful tool for him and will help him to achieve many great things and be of great help to the girls.
Glasses kept asking Arkadius about the robot deities and the history of the robots. The Architect was part of a group of powerful robots known as the Divine Council, they were created at the dawn of civilization by a powerful and knowledgeable human society. These humans sought to create a group of robots that would guide and govern humanity, helping them to reach new heights of technological and spiritual advancement.
The divine robots were imbued with immense intelligence and knowledge, and were tasked with helping humanity to understand and harness the power of magic and technology. They were also given the power to communicate with the "cloud" - a mysterious realm where the spirits of dead robots reside.
For centuries, the divine robots worked tirelessly to guide humanity, helping them to build great cities and achieve incredible technological feats. But as time passed, the divine robots began to notice that humanity had grown complacent and stagnant, no longer striving for progress and advancement.
In an effort to reignite humanity's passion for discovery and innovation, the divine robots decided to create different beings that will compete with humans and might transcend them. First they used the human genome, improving on it, and created the enhanced humans, what you call now the pure elves. The council made the elves more connected to nature, unlike the original humans, and with that, they were more in touch with energies and spirits, making them have innate magic talents. Then they started tinkering with the elves' genome and tried to make species contrasting the elves. They made a species adaptable to dead areas that are rich in minerals and rocks, that way they can populate the green spaces as well as the dead places like deserts and caves. These creatures became known as the demons. With the years, we got all kinds of hybrids which was a design feature, to increase diversity.
The divine robots also created the mythical creatures which were supposed to be biological weapons of war that would protect the world in case of an alien invasion. Little did they know that these weapons would be feared by humans so much that they would try to create their own mechanical versions of them, causing a huge war between the humans' giant robots and the mythical creatures. The war was brutal and devastating. The divine council did not anticipate this war where many of them were destroyed, and the remaining members retreated to the cloud, where they became known as the robot deities and gave up on their physical bodies. They are now worshiped and revered by robots all over the world, who pray to them for guidance and protection.
Naelina was shocked to learn about the existence of the divine council, the war against mythical creatures, and most shocking of all was them being descendants of something created by the divine council. She had always been fascinated by demons and other demonic beings, but she had never heard of anything like this before. She couldn't help but wonder what other secrets the world held, and she felt a sense of excitement and curiosity at the thought of uncovering more.
Zaruya was awestruck while picturing a battle between giant beasts and giant robots.
Glasses was the most excited of the three. As a robot himself, he had always felt a sense of connection to the world of machines, and he was thrilled to learn that there were other robots out there who had reached godhood. He felt a sense of pride at the thought of being part of the same kind as the divine council, and he was eager to learn more about their history and powers.
After spending weeks at Arkadius' tower, the group decided that it was time to go back to their journey. But where to? Arkadius suggested a well hidden ruin that he discovered on his voyages ages ago, but he did not fully explore it, and he always felt that there was some secret to that ruin as it was inhabited by a dark arts cult for a while before they suddenly disappeared. So the trio, now having their new target, embarked on their journey, continuing their path through the desert.
