In the middle of the ride, the driver stopped due to an odd scene, two people hunched over a dead body.
We all turn and look to see two men with blood and intestines hanging out of their mouths, while this was Halloween the body shouldn’t have been twitching or foaming at the mouth.
I yelled, " Drive, now!"
The driver took off as ten bodies started shambling up the trail after us.
"What the hell are those!?" Connor yelled.
"Zombies I guess," I said, "Hey Fier? Remember when we promised that we'd tell each other everything that was going on in our lives? I'm sorry I lied."
I then surrounded myself in a pale blue light that froze over sections of my body. "I'm the Snowdrift Phantom! Everyone get down!" I then tossed a couple of snowballs at the zombies that expanded, grabbed multiple zombies pulled them together into a ball, then I started freezing up the back of the trail.
"Guess we're even then, blue," Fier said standing up.
"What do you mean, get down so I can protect you, you idiot," I said as I started freezing zombies around the driver. “Wait Blue?”
"I'm Flare Heart!" He yelled as fire began spreading out of his neck and wrists before he flew up and immolated a couple of zombies with fireballs.
"Who would've thought that the power couple of the school is also the heroes of the town?" Connor said.
"I did," Blair stated, "they both told me and made me promise not to tell the other."
"Of course they did," Mare and Connor said in unison
"Driver! How well do you know the route through here?"
"Very!"
"Can you do it without seeing for a couple of minutes?"
"Definitely."
"Fier, steam screen?"
"Steam screen!"
Kalt then started to freeze the ground on the path. Then in a split second Fier slammed into the ground, melting the ice immediately and knocking the zombies back, along with creating a thick fog. Fier then flew back to the trailer, as Kalt placed some frozen mines.
"Don't zombies track by sound?" Fier asked
"Not these, the magic emanating from the crack is what turned them, they track through thermo-vision, from what I can tell," Kalt answered.
Kalt then pulled out his phone, "Guys tell your Families to expect Amaya to get them, I'm worried this might spread to the town and I'd prefer our state-of-the-art defenses to protect us."
"What about the rest of the town? Mare asked, "What if this gets the town? Why not open up the gates to everyone else?"
" My father will only allow the few people he knows to shelter in our house. My father has to deal with three families to shelter for the time being. He knows that when it comes to you guys, if he says no he loses his position."
"Your mother set some amazing rules," Blair said.
"Yeah, I guess she did, Fier, start burning a path around these woods."
" Kalt, I think it's time we use it," Fier said.
" No, I don't want to endanger anyone else," Kalt Replied.
