Hina and Mikan arrived at the old building, and as they approached, they noticed the worn-down appearance. Paint on the walls was peeling, and the windows were dirty and cracked.
Atmosphere in the old building was tense and eerie, almost as if it had been abandoned for years. Air was thick with the musty smell of age and neglect, and the dim lighting only added to the ominous feeling that permeated the space. The walls were cracked and stained, and the floors creaked with every step the girls took. Sound echoed through the empty halls, creating an eerie ambiance that made Hina and Mikan feel as if they were being watched.
Only sound that could be heard was the sound of their footsteps echoing through the empty corridors. As they made their way upstairs to room 323, Hina hesitated for a moment before placing her hand on the doorknob.Metal was cold to the touch, and she took a deep breath before slowly turning the knob.
As they stepped inside, the room was dark, and the air was musty, giving them a feeling of unease. As Hina moved deeper into the room, she could hear the creaking of the floorboards beneath her feet. The papers and documents scattered around the room were yellowed with age, and their edges were frayed and brittle. Bookshelves were lined with old tomes, their covers cracked and their pages yellowed. The room seemed frozen in time, a relic of a bygone era.
Hina stayed behind to investigate the room while Mikan went to the kitchen to check. Suddenly, Hina noticed a map written on the wall with threads strung across the room.
Her gaze was drawn to a map on the wall. It was written in a language she didn't recognize, and threads were strung across the room, connecting different points on the map. She stepped closer to the wall, her heart beating faster as she realized that this was something important.
Hina eyes fell upon a small, uncapped pill bottle resting beneath a pile of papers. As she picked it up, she noticed the writing on the label and read it slowly, trying to comprehend its meaning. "Try to use Dream... Take the first pill, nothing happens. Acetylcholine should be added. It will be better and add more DPH. Awesome!! Usable but still unable to control as desired. How much Serotonin should I modify?" She furrowed her brow, her mind racing with questions. Who wrote this?
"The dream pill was finally finished. A drug that can control your own destiny and dreams as I wish. This pill will make me rich!!" Hina's heart quickened as she read the next sentence.
"Oh God!! I sold this drug to someone on the dark web. I didn't expect to get this much profit. No No No!!!, It shouldn't be like this. It should not have side effects. I shouldn't do anything wrong. Dreams can never distort reality. I need to find a cure." Hina mind raced with questions. Who was the person who wrote this? What kind of side effects did the drug have? What was the cure they were searching for?
"Found a solution!! If I want to stop this, I have to go deeper. Must enter all 5 levels: sensory level, awareness level, understanding level, metacognitive level, and unconscious level. I had to create each level of medicine to break this curse." Hina's eyes widened as she read the words on the label. It seemed as though whoever had written this had been on a mission to create a drug that could control dreams, but something had gone wrong.
"I've created a sensory-level potion. Although the pill was round and red, unlike the dream pill, but now there is no time to think like this. The misrepresentation is growing stronger."
Hina's mind was reeling with questions, but as she read the final sentence, she realized that there were no more answers to be found in this room. The text on the pill bottle had come to an abrupt end, leaving her with more questions than answers.
Hina picked up the bottle and saw a bunch of round, red pills inside. " Will you eat it?" Mikan bent down to ask her from behind. Hina was uncertain and unsure of what to do. Mikan warned Hina to hurry up as they didn't have much time. Hina tried to ask for more time and went outside for fresh air before returning. Mikan complained but let her go.
As Hina stood outside, she looked out at the city lights in the night and contemplated what to do. Suddenly, she heard a faint rustling sound, causing her to pause and listen intently. Her heart began to race as she realized that the sound was getting closer. A chill ran down her spine as she looked back at the red pill in the bottle, unsure of what to do next. And then, she heard the distinct sound of footsteps approaching, echoing through the dark corridor.
Tap, tap, tap. Footsteps slowly approached her. Hina immediately looked back with wide eyes and called out to Mikan in a trembling and frightened voice. "Hmm, did something call to comfort me before taking the pill?" Mikan curtly said to Hina before turning to look in the direction she was looking at.
The two of them looked at it with slightly panicked expressions. Its appearance was similar to that of a human, but its skin was rotting like a dead man, and its ten clawed fingers were almost half the length of a hand. The smiling teeth were too sharp and too numerous to count. It spoke with a whisper, tick tock, tick tock. Although it only had pale gray eyes, it looked at them with unblinking eyes.
It slowly began to laugh as it picked up something that was a bottle. The glass contained something red, and it pulled the cork off and poured out the contents of the bottle. It was a grain of sand, but it was bright red. Mikan shook Hina to keep her from falling asleep and said, "Run!" The two ran away.
They ran so fast that they didn't notice the stairs they came up were no longer there. The grains of red sand gradually increased until the ground was no longer visible. Hina began to panic again, her hand holding the pill bottle trembling continuously. Mikan shook her vigorously and said,
"Hina! Do you trust me?"
Hina shook her head a few times instead of replying.
"Take that pill and jump off that building."
"Are you crazy to jump off a building?" But Mikan's eyes were very serious. She didn't have enough time to think about it, Mikan grabbed her hand and jumped down.
Hina screamed with her eyes closed. When she started to open her eyes, she was in a room, a familiar place - Kindergarten. But the room was strange in that there was a glass screen TV arranged neatly from smallest to largest throughout the room. The floor was covered with white sand.
Mikan lightly grasped Hina's shoulder, causing her to startle slightly as they both looked around at their new surroundings. The air felt cool and crisp, indicating that they were in a different place. Mikan spoke up, breaking the silence.
"Looks like we've reached another level."
Hina's curiosity was piqued as she immediately asked,
"Wait, what's wrong with us jumping off the tower?"
Mikan added "We've been dreaming for a long time." hoping to provide some context.
"Do you remember how we first got to that building?" Hina was stunned by the answer she received.
"That Right, we've been dreaming for a long time." Suddenly, there was a sound of applause that echoed throughout the area.
"Clap...clap" someone said.
"Congratulations, you two have reached the sensory level dream," said a large man wearing a trench coat and an orange hat that covered his entire body.
"Who are you?" Hina asked, intrigued.
"Me? You can call me Mr. Hat...well, it would be rude if we were to sit here and talk. Would it be okay for the three of us to go sit down and have some tea and start chatting?" Mr. Hat gestured towards a small table set up with chairs and a steaming teapot.
The three of them sat down, and as they sipped their tea, the aroma of the warm liquid filled their senses. The chairs were plush and comfortable, and the texture of the fabric felt soft against their skin. Mikan couldn't help but glance outside at the weather, noticing the gray clouds looming above.
"Then let's get started, shall we?" said Mr. Hat, breaking the momentary silence.
"You two are going to the most dangerous place, you know that?" Mr. Hat's voice grew serious as he spoke.
"So?" Mikan groaned in frustration, causing Hina to lightly pat her arm in reassurance.
"Whoa, whoa. Calm down. Calm down. I'm not trying to stop you guys. I want to give you advice," Mr. Hat said.
"Can I have that strawberry pointing at you?" Mr. Hat pointed to the top of the strawberry that was on top of Hina's cake that she was eating. She gave him the strawberry, and he practiced cutting it in half. “Thank you, Now that you guys are here,” he said, pointing at the layer of strawberries that had just split, “every floor of the dream is separated by a glass wall. The deeper it gets, the thicker it becomes.”
“What are our motivations for breaking those walls?” asked Mikan.
“Why do we want to go deeper?” “Yeah.” added Hina
“I mean, we don't even know what's down there. Why are we taking this risk?” Mr. Hat smiled, as if he'd been expecting the question.
“Ah, that's the beauty of it. The unknown. The mystery. The thrill of discovery.” Mikan looked skeptical.
“But what if there's danger down there?”
Mr. Hat shrugged. “There's always danger in exploring the unknown. But think of the rewards. Think of the knowledge you could gain.”
Hina nodded. “I see what you mean. And breaking those walls would be the first step.”
“But how do we do it?” asked Mikan.
“We can't just go around smashing glass.” Mr. Hat leaned in.
“No, you need a specific tool. A hammer.” “A hammer?” repeated Hina.
“Where would we find one?” Mr. Hat chuckled. “You already have it. You're here because you found the hammer and used it anyway.”
“You mean the red pill we ate?” said Hina, remembering the strange way they had entered the dream world.
"That's right!! Very good, take a plate of snacks as a reward. Who needs more tea? No? Okay. You look so young. The person who came in last time was a middle-aged grandfather. That thing smells really unique. If you guys saw it, you'd probably fall on your feet."
“Oh, I understand...” Mikan suddenly said. “Understand what?” asked Hina. Mikan hesitated.
“When I went to school. At that time, the weather was extremely hot and people were huddled together, the smell of sweat mixed with the clothing of dozens of unknown people, right? Hina.” Hina's face scrunched up in confusion.
“Hey, stop. Why should you come back and talk about that again?” Mr. Hat chuckled. “Haha, is that right? Being a human being is also difficult.”
Mr. Hat continued as he raised his finger.
"If you want to enter the awareness level, I won't forbid it. But please listen to my advice." Mr. Hat's words were filled with urgency.
"First, look for the pink elephants in the parade. Secondly, once you're there, find it as soon as possible before the Sandman finds you."
"Sandman?" Hina asked, confused.
"That's right, the Sandman you met before jumping off the building. That person is very dangerous. It needs the eyes of the one who is dreaming. Don't touch its red sand for a long time, or you will unknowingly enter its dream, and it would be extremely scary if you entered its dream," Mr. Hat explained, his voice sending shivers down their spines.
Mr. Hat spoke with a voice that made goosebumps rise. Finishing speaking, he picked up a strawberry shortcake and started speaking again.
"Three, upon arriving on the pink elephant, you will find a blue pill that will advance you to the next level. Catch it and eat it."
"What do you mean catch it?" Hina asked curiously.
"Oh... you'll find out. Once there, go find the Eye Lighthouse. The lighthouse keepers will tell you the next level. Well, since I've given you all my advice, my job is over."
As Mr. Hat finished placing the remaining teacups and cakes on the table, the warm aroma of freshly brewed tea filled the room. The soft, cushioned chairs felt comfortable as Hina and Mikan settled into them, eagerly awaiting Mr. Hat's advice.
Suddenly, Mr. Hat's hands shot out, snapping his fingers near Hina and Mikan's ears. Startled, Hina recoiled, but quickly nodded to indicate she had heard.
"Now, look at that strawberry on top of the cake." Mr. Hat instructed, gesturing towards the sweet treat.
As they turned their attention to the dessert, the fingers of both Mr. Hat's hands suddenly poked their foreheads. Confused and irritated, Mikan asked in an annoyed tone. "What are you doing?"
Before she could ask any more questions, however, the two of them, along with their chairs, were pushed face down to the ground with a loud thud.
"Hey! What the hell are you doing?" Mikan exclaimed, ready to unleash her anger on Mr. Hat. But as she looked up, she was momentarily stunned. The room had disappeared, and they now found themselves on the roof of the building.
