"So, how has your first day in NYC been?" Nat asks me after we sit in silence for about 2 minutes. "It's been really
good!" I respond. "Guess what?" they ask me. "What?" I ask. "You came right on the first day of a week-long break.
They like to have new students come during break so that they can get used to NYC and the school before classes
start. We have a free week, and me and Kai were wondering if you'd like to explore NYC with us!" she says in a hurry. "That's awesome! I'd love to!" I say. Nat laughs, and then their phone buzzes. "Hang on, it's Kai." she
says, and answers it. "Hi Kai! I'm at the ice cream shoppe with Jess." -pause- "What? No! Do you want us to come
help?" -pause- "Uh-huh, yeah he promised!" -pause- "What? Homophobic? Okay, we're on our way." -pause- "Okay, bye!" "Is everything okay?" I ask, concerened. "Yeah, everything is fine. You know that kid that Kai went to go meet? He's apparently really homophobic, and the principal has him sharing a room with Kai. That's against the rules, obviously, seeing as he is a boy and they don't have a boy's body. We're gonna go talk to the principal with them and this boy and work something out. Kai may start living with us." Nat explains, and we get up. I grab my ice cream, there is NO way I'm wasting something that good, no matter how important this is.
