In an instant, I felt someone snatching me from behind my back. I tried to scream but the stranger blocked my mouth with their hand, making my scream impossible to be heard. "Stay still." He was a man, judging by his voice. Suddenly, an intense sound filled my ears. It was a gunshot. His tight rope-like grip finally decayed and he fell to the ground too, breathless. Someone saved me. I turn around and see a man with black hair, wearing black gloves and a dark shirt.
"Who are you?" I asked him, untrustful.
The man comes toward me and stops five steps In front of me. I froze as I saw that he was raising his gun at me.
"Don't even dare to move." He said with a dull voice. I could see the hostility he had In his wolfish stare. He might think I am an enemy.
"Wait, don't shoot. I-I'm one of the ten newcomers! I don't know where they are but I know that four of them were killed.” I confessed. The air became considerably heavier to breathe. " We were ten but decided to split into small groups. I lost the others but then I reunited with Jonas who told me that he and the other three affiliated but only he remained alive. He sacrificed himself."
"Your name?" He asked coldly like the news did not affect him at all.
"My name Is Amelia Genevieve Hannover," I said fast, my voice trembling.
"Investigator Ramirez." He introduced himself.
He's around 26 years old, I think. Doesn't look old.
"Amelia Genevieve Hannover, you say?"
I nodded my head as a yes right after he asked.
"Why do you consider becoming a paranormal investigator?" The stranger asked randomly, judging me with observation. I looked elsewhere, refusing to offer him any clues. As I looked away, I recalled my father's words: In this world, you will never obtain your peace until you find who you are. And I found who I am.
"Is there a reason I should not know about?" He asked, still suspecting me to be a threat.
"No. It's merely personal." I answered casually, still not declaring the exact reason.
"Hey, you! Light brown-haired girl over there!" As I heard a person proclaim my name, I looked around and witnessed a blood-red-haired woman who was wearing glasses directing her gun at me. I froze.
"Investigator Cecelyn Perez, this girl Is one of us," Ramirez informed her.
"You recognize her?" She asked with confusion, Cecelyn seemed to be calm when she was talking to him.
"Yes, she says that she Is one of the ten newcomers." He answered calmly.
She looked at me like she was ready to pull the trigger "Really? Where are the other nine, pretty girl? Or did you kill them all?"
"No! Why would I do that?" I stand up for myself.
"My question Is simple! Where are the other nine?" She yelled at me, filled with hatred.
"I don't know what happened to the others after we split," I answered sheepishly. As I calmed down I noticed small details about her. Her height Is around 159-161 centimeters, has pale skin color and a confident posture.
"Go find the others, then hurry back to the building. We'll handle this."
