Hello Beautiful humans, hope you are doing well today. Here is another chapter. I hope you enjoy it.

Levi’s P.O.V
I woke up to my alarm blaring and groaned as I reached out to turn it off.
“Okay, today is the big day. Let’s get ready to smash it out of the park. You can do this, Levi. We prepared everything. It should all go smoothly.” I say to myself before getting up to get ready.
Walking to the bathroom, I remembered falling asleep without saying goodbye to Kadyen. So I ran back and grabbed my phone to find a message from Kayden.
Kayden 🤤
Sorry, I kept you longer than I wanted to, haha. I hope you sleep well. Good night Bun.
Received 12:24 AM.
Me
Good morning Kayden. Sorry, I fell asleep before saying goodnight. I didn’t realise how sleepy I was, and I enjoyed talking to you. I’ll see you soon.
Sent.
I giggled at my phone as I got up to finish getting ready. Taking a quick shower, brush my teeth, and put my face cream on cause my skin ain’t going to keep itself hydrated. I changed into my uniform and was getting ready to leave when I heard my phone ring.
Kayden 🤤
I’m heading to your house to pick you up. Let me know when you’re ready.
Received.
He’s coming to pick me up?
Now?
Oh lord, how do I look?
I ran to my mirror to look at myself in the mirror. I looked decent. My hair was styled properly, and my clothes were nice and neat… damn it, I forgot that we don’t wear our uniform today. It’s a free day. I head to my closest to change. Good thing I decided on my outfit weeks ago. I just forgot about it. My paranoid self has come in handy for once.
I changed quickly, wearing a nice pair of black jeans that hugged my legs perfectly and a light blue bottom-up shirt with one white stripe along the side. Hurrying downstairs to put my shoes on, I quickly text Kayden that I’m ready.
“Good morning sunshine, someone is in a hurry?” Mom said as she hugged me like she did every morning.
“Morning, mom. My friend is coming to pick me up for school today. We need to be there early since we’re in charge of the events today.” I said.
“Oh, alright then. Good luck, sweetie. You look very handsome today, my adorable baby. Look at those rosy cheeks.” She pinched my cheeks, turning my head left and right.
“Mom! Ouch, that hurt,” I pouted.
She smiled and kissed my forehead softly. “Just don’t stress yourself too much. Last time that happened you had a panic attack, so just be careful. Okay?”
“I will don’t worry,” I said as my phone buzzed in my pocket.
Kayden 🤤
I’m here 😊
“Okay, he’s here. I’ll see you later, remember I’m coming back later today as well there is an after party. Bye, mom.” I kissed her cheeks and went out the door.
I saw Kayden’s Audi parked in front of my driveway. Opening the door, I get into the passenger seat.
“Morning, sweetcheeks, you ready for today?” Kayden greeted.
“Morning, Kayden. No, not really. I’m very nervous.” I replied, putting my seat belt on.
“It’s going to be fine. You will see.” He brought his hand towards me. His large hands grasped my own, and he smiled sincerely before returning to the front and driving.
We get to school, and it’s hectic already. The organising committee is running around trying to get the final touches before students start coming in. Kayden and I visit all the departments to ensure everything is okay. We found an issue with one of the speakers on the stage not working. Thankfully Kayden knew someone who was good with electronics and could get it up and running. He also checked all the equipment making sure it all ran smoothly.
A couple of minutes after the bell rang for the school assembly, we stood in our perspective classes for the teacher to mark us as present, then proceeded to the stage for the principal to give the commencement speech. After that, we move to the flag parade, where students carry out the flags of the world, being introduced one by one. Next, Kayden and I move backstage, preparing the first performers.
“Alright, guys, you’re up first, don’t forget to look back for us to start the music whenever you’re ready,” Kayden instructed them before sending them off to the stage.
The performance ran smoothly until the last three when we faced a bit of a hiccup.
“Um, Kayden, Levi, we have a problem.” Kevin started.
“What, what’s wrong?” I spoke, terrified of what he was about to say.
“Well, our second to last performer kinda dropped out.” He stated.
“Huh? Kinda dropped out? What do you mean kinda dropped out?” At this point, I was a ball of nerves. This is a disaster. What are we going to do? The last performer is not ready yet. Oh no, no, this is what I feared would happen. I knew something was going to go wrong.
Again you guys might be saying Levi, chill. It’s not that big of a deal. But you are forgetting I am a drama queen.
“She ate something from the food stalls that she was allergic to and had to be taken to the hospital,” Kevin revealed.
“Okay, is she doing alright, though?” Kayden asked, and Kevin nodded in response. “Alright then, we just need to find a replacement until the last performer is ready.” Kayden finished.
“What, who? We don’t have music ready. What about the production?” I mumbled. Seriously at this point, I began to lose it, and now that I’m thinking about I was so overreacting.
“Levi, calm down, Bun. It’ll be okay. We’ll find something.” Kayden tried to calm me down. I looked up at him, and you could see the cogs turning inside his brain, trying to find a solution.
“Oh, I got it,” he yelled, making me jump in my seat.
“What? What is it?” I questioned.
“Kevin, can you run and get me a guitar? I need to talk to Levi.” He asked.
“Yes, I will be right back,” Kevin ran to the other end of the stage where the requirements were.
“Okay, Levi, I need you to listen to me… we’re going to perform, you and me.”
I looked at him dumbfounded. What did he just say? Us? Performing on stage? I started laughing, thinking he was kidding.
“I’m serious, bun. We have no other choice; otherwise, we’d have 5 minutes of silence until the next one is ready. It ain’t going to be pretty.” Kayden held my face between his hands, bringing me closer to his face. “Your voice is amazing. You can do this. I will be right there with you. Whenever you feel scared or nervous, just look at me, okay? Please BunBun.”
His breath fanning my face makes me forget about this whole situation; it smells like mints, probably from his toothpaste and a hint of coffee. He looked so good up close, and his eyelashes were long, too. His button nose twitched a bit; how cute. Damn it, Levi, focus now is not the time to admire this greek god. I took a deep breath looking into his beautiful brown eyes.
“O-okay, yeah, let’s do this. But what song do we play? Do we even know the same songs? What if we don’t?” I started freaking out again.
“Deep breaths for me, Bun. Think of what song you want to sing; if I don’t know it, I'll just put the cords in front of me. Okay?” Kayden’s hands never left my face. At this point, it was burning up.
Alright, what songs to sing? What song to sing? Think. A light bulb went up, and it was perfect.
“Do you know ‘At My Worst by Pink Sweats’?” I asked Kayden, and his voice lit up.
“Yes, I know that song very well. Let’s get ready.” He smiled.
Kevin returned with the guitar, and Kayden strapped it around his shoulders just as the performance before we ended. We tell the host what happened so he can introduce us properly.
“That was an amazing dance all the way from Bosnia. I don’t think my legs can move this gracefully.” The host joked, making everyone laugh with him.
“Next, we have very special performers coming on due to one of our students dropping out last minute. Our talented coordinators for this event decided to give us a bit of a treat. Round of applause to Kayden and Levi.” we heard the crowd clap, some whistles here and there. I bet one of them was Leo’s. That boy can whistle.
I felt Kayden’s hand wrap around mine, “you got this, Lee. Remember to look at me if you need.”
I nodded at him, and we walked to the stage. It was dark, a single light shining on us, making everyone else drown in the sea of darkness, but I could feel their eyes on me. I looked back and Kayden, and he gave me a sweet smile showing me his dimples. I gave him a nod, and he started playing. I took a final breath, turned back towards the audience and started singing.
A/N Play the song now if you want to listen along to 'At My Worst' By Pink Sweats.
Can I call you baby?
Can you be my friend?
Can you be my lover up until the very end?
Let me show you love, oh, I don't pretend
Stick by my side even when the world is givin' in, yeah
Oh my god, I can’t believe I'm doing this, I thought to myself. I glanced back at Kayden to see him already looking at me, smirking. He gave me a wink and then looked back at the audience. What a tease.
I need somebody who can love me at my worst
No, I'm not perfect, but I hope you see my worth
'Cause it's only you, nobody new, I put you first
And for you, girl, I swear I'll do the worst.
A/N you can keep playing the song or stop is up to you 🙂
The song came to an end, and the audience went crazy with the clapping. We took a bow, and we got off the stage. When I turned to Kayden and jumped on him, wrapping my arms around his neck, he laughed and hugged me back, drawing soothing circles on my back and whispering words of praise into my ears. I revelled in his warmth, his touch sending me into a spiral of emotions. I want this man to be mine. I want to spend all my time wrapped up with him just like this.
We broke our embrace, and Kayden smiled at me.
“You did amazing, Bun, and I am so proud of you.” He patted my head.
“Hey, watch the hair. Don’t mess it up.” I warned, and Kayden laughed.
“I guess you weren’t bad yourself, mister.” I gave his shoulder a nudge.
“Thank you, Bun. Let’s hope this day ends peacefully,” he said as we returned to work.
The rest of the day ran peacefully, and everyone was having fun and enjoying their time. Kayden and I were finally relieved of our duties. The teachers were proud of our work, praising us for a well-done job. I also got a lot of compliments from students and teachers on my singing, which made me happy. I’m just pleased that the school hired a professional cleaning crew to help clean up since we did everything else. At that time, Kayden and I went separate as we had things to do. The day ended, and all the students left, except our year since we had the after-party for the seniors. I met up with the guys before the party started, and we started chatting.
“Lee, you were amazing on stage. I was always so jealous of your voice. Give me some talent.” Jace cried. I gave Jace a weird look. Alex and Leo excused themselves to get us drinks. Damn, take me with you.
“What are you talking about? You sing better than me, you idiot. You have been in a professional choir since you were five years old.” I questioned.
“Yeah, I know, but I like the tone of your voice better, that’s all,” he answered.
“You don’t need to feel jealous, and you sound amazing, J. I love your voice.” He looked at me, his eyes watering, as he rushed into my arms.
“My best friend, I love you so much.”
See, this is why we’re best friends. We live to be dramatic. Alex and Leo came back rushing towards us, looking very worried.
“What’s wrong? Why do you look like you just saw a ghost?” I asked.
“Levi, we just wanted to warn you before you see it yourself,” Leo said, shaking my shoulders.
“You guys are scaring me. What happened?” I looked at them, hoping to get some sort of answer. Instead, I saw Jace glance behind me, all the colour draining from his face.
“Oh, shit,” he mumbled. Leo and Alex glanced at me with sympathy.
I turned around to see what they were talking about, and my heart dropped at the scene. I felt like my insides were being twisted, and the pain I felt bubbling in my chest was almost unbreakable. There they were, walking towards us, hands intertwined and smiling ear to ear. Kayden and his girlfriend?
