Around 30 minutes had passed, and Seth and her mom were quietly eating pizza in the living room.

"Mom, when do you think my ability will awaken? It should have manifested two years ago" Seth asked her mom with a sad expression on his face while eating his pizza.

"Oh honey, you know not all espers awaken their abilities at the same time I'm sure it will appear sooner than you think," She said to Seth with a comforting smile.

"You know, your father didn't awaken his ability until he was 15 years old"

Seth only pouted. "Yeah, but dad is a genius"

"It wasn't always like that, before awakening his ability your father was very clumsy, he didn't have any kind of physical skills, and even after awakening it he was the worst at controlling it," His mom said while giggling.

"Then how did he become so powerful?"

"He found something to fight for and trained himself until he fainted, sometimes it seemed very unhealthy, but that's the determination he gained"

"Dad is awesome!"

"Yes, he surely is"

In 30 more minutes, they had finished all the pizza.

"That was so good!" Seth said while lying on the couch. A big round belly could be seen through his shirt. Her mom was still sitting at the table next to the now-empty box of pizza. A little bit of concern could be seen on her face.

'It's already 10:00 pm, he never comes back home this late. I hope everything is fine at work. Anyway, I shouldn't be worrying.' She thought to herself.

"Seth, do you wanna see a film?" She asked her son who was now falling into a comatose state from eating so much. Like this another hour passed and it was already 11 pm.

"Okay young man, it is time for you to go to sleep," Seth's mom said with a warm smile as she paused the film.

"But mom, the film is getting to the good part, the hero is about to defeat the villain with the help of his friends," He said as he made puppy eyes at her mom.

"We can finish it tomorrow, for now, you must go to sleep, you have school tomorrow"

"Okay mom," Seth said as he pouted and went to his room upstairs leaving her mom alone in the living room.

"I should also get back to work," She said as she turned the holographic tablet back on and started writing equations. Another hour passed.

'It's already midnight, Michael should be here already' She thought with a concerned look while staring at the complex equations in front of her

Knock knock knock

Suddenly, someone knocked on the door.

'He must have forgotten his key,' She thought as she got up and walked up to the door.

Ring Ring Ring

As she was arriving at the front door her bracelet started ringing from an incoming call. She turned on the holographic display to know who it was. It was her husband.

"Don't be so impatient I'm almost at the door," She said with a playful tone as she answered the call.

"Mayla, don't open the door," Michael said from the other end. His voice sounded nervous and agitated. When Mayla heard this she froze, few situations would create that nervousness in her husband, and that could only mean one thing.

"Take Seth and try to flee, I'll be there as soon as I can if you can go don't wait for me," He said, sparkles could be heard from his end.

"Are you crazy?! I won't leave you behind, I can help you" She said as she stared with killing intent at the door.

"I know you can! This wouldn't be a threat to us. However, we must protect Seth" Helplessness could be heard in his voice.

"Okay, just don't make us wait"

"I won't," He said, then Mayla cut the call. Now complete silence was the only thing that remained in the corridor as Mayla stared at the front door.

Knock knock knock

Someone knocked on the door again. The fire began to flow around Mayla's hands as she channeled the energy, her ability beginning to bend reality to her will. Then a click was heard from the front door.
