Year 3815, Age of Unification.
“How much longer are you going to sharpen your sword, Jasmim? Luther said.
The eighteen-year-old man was dressed in a blue overcoat, cream shirt and had his brown hair perfectly styled, yet his attire conveyed more of an adventurer than an emissary of the wind. This was due to the fact that he was not wearing the mantles characteristic of his Clan, but that had been a freedom he gave himself for being on vacation.
Because he stood out from his other companions due to his clothing and good looks, he often attracted curious glances, although he kept himself modest about it.
The impatient emissary stared at the woman with long purple hair and she in response made a face to tease him and said:
"As much time as you spend fixing your hair."
Jasmim wore a purple robe, know as: hanfu, patterned with flowers and her right arm was covered in bandages.
The emissary just laughed at Jasmim, in his eyes her hybrid appearance of human and fox, characteristic of the race kitsune, added to her delicate face, only made her even cuter when she made one of her faces.
Despite the fact that they were only going to do a brief patrol around the campsite, Luther was adjusting his overcoat as if he were about to meet someone important.
But really, he was just worried about what might be lurking in the woods around them. Because of his experience, he was not fooled by peaceful nights and beautiful scenery.
Jasmim, when she finished sharpening the blade of her sword, put it in the scabbard and got up from the stone where she was sitting.
"Lucky for you, I was already done. Let's try not to take too long, I want to join the others around the campfire”, said Jasmim to Luther while looking at his other three companions setting up camp, “This cold tonight is making me really lazy!”
While the two were talking, one of their companions approached them, the emissary was curious about the fact that they were taking so long to go.
Like Jasmim, the woman was also wearing a hanfu, but this one was white and she kept her red hair tied back. Most people who knew her described her as a charismatic and easy to approach person, which made her easily relate to others.
She, however, did not agree with this, not considering herself a charismatic person, even though her friends pointed out good evidence to the contrary.
The emissary took a long sip of her tea, waiting for the two to finish talking and when she was given an opening, she said:
"What are you taking so long here? Better go soon! And please be careful along the way. The night is quiet, but the assassins we're looking for could be nearby.”
"Don't worry Kira, I won't let Luther get into trouble”, Jasmim said.
“And me?! Jasmim, when you say it like that, it sounds like I'm irresponsible. By the way, last time you were the one who picked a fight with that group of mercenaries in the last town we were in,” Luther said.
“Well I…”
“I...? I…?”, Luther crossed his arms, convinced a good answer wouldn't come.
Kira laughed, having fun with the scene, while Jasmim pretended to be perplexed by the situation and said:
“In… In my defense, they were extorting the people there!”
"Even so, we could have just reported them!", Luther said.
“And give them time to disappear?!”, said Jasmim, frowning, “It's your fault! I think that after all these years, your heroism just got to us! Don't you agree, Kira?”
“I'm sorry, but she's right, Luther. Although you had Sira's help in influencing us”, Kira said as she laughed, “But the fact is, we're going after assassins because you want to help the people of the town we're on our way to. Although it would have been much easier to have reported it to the Templars. They fix this kind of thing.”
“There's no way I can just ignore what that man said at the bar. If I can do anything to help, I would…”
Crossing their arms, the two women glared at Luther. The expression the two had on their faces was enough for him to stop and the two smiled satisfied with the result.
"Okay, you have a point", Luther said.
"At last, our fearless leader surrenders!", said Jasmim.
Luther chuckled as he looked at Jasmim thehitting lightly with its tail. Kira always had fun watching the two, for her they were on a different wavelength.
Everyone in the group was pretty close, but still, the two always seemed to be much more comfortable with each other. Only two other people Kira knew made Luther act more like the young adult he was and a connection as strong as Jasmim had with him.
Although Luther was far from being considered a dense person by Kira.
“And to think we're supposed to be on vacation,” Kira said, “I think we've spent so much time fighting for our clan that we can't sit still.”
"Are you okay, Kira?" said Jasmim, noticing her friend's downcast gaze.
“After we're done here, I promise we'll go to some town just for the ride. I know we got away from the clan a little bit to forget… that last mission. Sorry…” Luther said.
"Luther, no need to apologize! We all know that's his way of distracting himself and so is Jinn”, Kira smiled so as not to bring back uncomfortable memories, “I just hope that when Sira arrives, you'll remember what you said”.
“I highly doubt it. In the Wind Clan, these two always encouraged each other with their crazy ideas. They always go looking for another problem to solve”, said Jasmim.
“Hahahaha, really the others always tried to avoid doing the quests with us!”, Luther said, smiling proudly.
"You know that's not a good thing, right?", said Jasmim looking at him perplexed.
I'm going to join Lia and Jinn, you'd better get going soon to return before Lia's tea gets cold”, Kira pushed her two friends along the trail, "If you take too long, we'll come after you!"
“Okay, let's go Jasmim”, Luther said, adopting a serious posture.
