"I'm so happy that we could help!" Kat says, and looks at me with stars in her eyes. Am I the only one that noticed that?
This can't be right. I only just broke up with Jackson, how can I be crushing on someone else already? I don't know what to do. "So, how about we get you unpacked and then we can order pizza delivery and watch a movie?" asks Nikki. "That sounds great, thank you." I say, and look around. The dorm room is very big, big enough to house 4 people comfortably. There are 4 bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and 2 bathrooms. Nikki grabs my hand and gives me the grand tour of the dorm room, but I guess it's really an apartment. She shows me her bedroom, Kat's bedroom, and what will be my bedroom. It's beautiful, and my room even has a balcony that leads outside. The bed is a double, and very big. There's already a desk, dresser, and a closet. The walls are painted a beautiful lavender purple and there is a fluffy white rug already layed on the floor. "The people that used to live here forgot a few things, like the rug. I hope you'll be comfortable!" Nikki says, grinning. "THIS. IS. AMAZING!!!!" I screech, giving her a hug. "I'm so glad you like it!!" she says, brightening. I hear a light knock on the door, and look to the doorway. It's Kat. "C-come on in!" I say, a bit to brightly. "Thanks!" they say. "Um, if you don't mind me asking, what are your pronouns today?" I ask them, blushing. "Today I'm feeling she/her. Me and Nikki actually have a system since sometimes it's awkward to ask pronouns everyday. In the kitchen, on the fridge, is a magnetic white board. Every day I wake up and write the pronouns that I'm feeling, so that all Nikki has to do is look at the fridge." Kat says, smiling. "That's so cool!" I say, turning more red by the second. Nikki looks at me, and it's clear that she sees me blushing, so she says, "Um Kat, I have to talk to Abbie for a sec, do you mind leaving and closing the door?" "O-oh, no problem!!" she says, and leaves. Nikki turns to me and says, "Soooooo you like her?"
20 year old enby Abbie Keller is just starting a new chapter of their life. They were kicked out of the house at age 15 when they came out as nonbinary and pansexual, and started living with their best friend, Jackson. Shortly after Abbie moved in, Jackson asked them out. The two have been dating since age 16, but their relationship has been hitting some rough patches lately. They're attending the same college, but Abbie isn't enjoying this college. They want to go to medical school and become a doctor, not study English Arts with their boyfriend. Will Abbie break up with Jackson and achieve her dreams or will Jackson break things off? What caused these two to break up and stop contacting each other? "What Next?" tells the story of how Abbie learns to live without Jackson, and finds new love as well.
