William was gentle as he took my good arm and pulled me towards his pack healer’s cabin. His emotions were scary, and I could hear his heartbeat thundering in my ears. He didn’t leave behind the wild wolf either; he took it with us.
“Please, get rid of that thing.” I pleaded with him. But it fell on deaf ears. He ignored me.
The thud of the wolf hitting the floor was sickening. He had just dropped the thing in a heap.
“Get out! I’ll deal with him.” William snarled at the pack healer.
The healer didn’t even fight with him, he just abandoned this sinking ship and bolted.
“Take off your jacket and shirt.” William said, as he started pulling at it. He wasn’t even giving me a chance to take it off myself.
“You need to stop pulling and let me do it!” I yelled at him, frustrated.
“If you would have just killed the fucking thing, we wouldn’t be in this position!” He snarled back at me. Grabbing two sides of my shirt and just ripping it right down the front.
“Are you kidding me? You didn’t need to do that! And kill it, you said? I can’t do that, I won’t! I can’t take another’s life, William!”
“It’s a fucking animal and it would have taken yours, Elias!”
The dead wolf’s body on the floor was hard to look at, much like the rabbits from before. I hated it. William was shoving and pulling at my clothing again until he had my entire torso naked and exposed to him. Again, he grabbed me, this time my arm where I was bit. Now that he was touching it, the pain in the wound ramped up ten fold.
“William, that is terribly painful. Please be more gentle.” I groaned as he scrubbed my wounds with a paste that smelled horrible. He ignored me and just kept scrubbing. There was no point trying to yank my arm away from him. He had a terrible grip on it.
“William, please stop. You are hurting me.” I tried again, this time in a softer voice.
“I’ll finish in a few minutes. Just hold on.”
“William, I said stop.” I said, this time with a more assertive tone, and he immediately reacted. I felt his anger peak.
“I will stop when I feel like it. You belong to me.” He said, his tone matching the anger I felt from him. He scrubbed just as rough as before, this time with a purpose, like he was trying to prove his very words and I hated it.
“Let me go or else I’ll—-”
“Or else you’ll what Elias?” William yelled, yanking on my arm as he did so. The pack doctor opened the door and stepped inside. He probably figured William would have had this all wrapped up by now. But no, that was not the case. William let go of me and turned. I watched his eyes go gold, and he growled. “Get the fuck out, before I rip you head from your neck!”
“William, Alpha, please let me help—--”
William was shaking, and the doctor’s eyes went wide.
“William, I am not trying to harm your bond mate or your ability to look after Elias.” He said, his hands up. “I just want to help heal his wounds.”
“Get out.” He snarled again. Shaking worse than before, I blinked and William was in his wolf form, snarling, blocking the doctor from me.
“Elias, close your eyes. William is feeling potent emotions and this might get violent. I don’t want you to see William like this.” The doctor said, and William snarled louder than before, close the space between them and forcing the doctor back out into the snow.
With my eyes pressed closed, I waited for the sounds of violence, but there was none. When I opened my eyes again, the doctor was coming back inside. Not a single thing was wrong with him.
“William?” I asked.
“The beta is keeping him occupied, against his will.”
“What was that…?”
“William bonded to you. He feels you belong to him, and I, as another male, threaten that, and you’re exposed. He was attempting to mend your wounds. Believing it to be his job as your… mate for a better lack of words.”
“Mate? You mean like a lover? I assure you that is not—--”
The sound of William howling and the anger inside of him surged.
“I best hurry before he gets worse than he already is.”
The doctor rushed to wrap the wound and help me dress back into my coat. I felt William getting closer, and I opened the door to the healer’s cabin just as he got there. His eyes were golden and wild. He was back in his human form again now. Shaking, he shifted right there.
He pressed his body against my side and I ran my fingers through his fur and whispered.
“That’s enough, I’m alright.”
William herded me back towards the cabin, and just outside of it, he shifted.
“Inside.” He demanded. I went inside and he was right behind me. He wrapped his body around mine from behind, and I heard him pull in my scent.
“Mine, you are mine.” He growled, slowly, and I could feel his chest rumbling against me.
“William…”
His hand travelled up my chest under the coat, popping the buttons as he went up, until his hand was around my throat softly. He tilted my neck to the side, and I heard him growl.
“Mine. You’re mine.”
“William I don’t understand—-”
I felt his breath on my shoulder as he moved my coat, and then blinding pain, as he sunk his teeth into my shoulder. Panicking, I stomped on his foot and he drew his teeth out, snarling in pain. Touching my shoulder where the pain was, it coated my fingers in my blood when I pulled them down to look. His teeth, coated in my blood, were visible when he snarled at me.
He reached out to me, and I growled at him, showing him my fangs. My shoulder was throbbing.
“Stay away from me!”
“Mine!” He snarled, coming closer as he backed me into the bedroom door, and I managed to open it. Putting just a little more space between us. He backed me up to the bed, and I closed my eyes, terrified of him. Waiting for him to actually kill me.
I felt his arms wrap around me as he lifted me up and dropped me on the bed, and my coat fell open and he hovered over me, even as I tried to push him away. Many emotions of his flooded the bond and confused me. I had no clue what he was going to do to me. He moved my head to the side again, and I trembled in fear, and as he lowered his body to press it against me, he laced his fingers with mine on left hand. His mouth dropped back to the spot where he bit me, and I felt him using his tongue to clean the wound. When he was done, he pulled back, and the golden eyes of his faded back to his equally beautiful emerald green ones.
My blood was still staining his teeth when he apologized. Horrified by his own actions, I felt it through the bond. He had to be aware of how terrified I was of him at the moment.
“Elias, I…” He reached for me and closed my eyes again.
I felt him move, and he was gone when I opened my eyes. His emotions were a mess, and he was quick to shut me out when he felt me. Wiping my eyes, I slowly got out of the bed, and pulled on one of William’s discarded t-shirts, after removing my jacket.
Pacing the cabin, I waited for William. My shoulder had stopped throbbing, and as the sun dipped down and the moon rose, I was getting antsy. He still had his emotions shut off to me, and I was hurting and confused. Using the mirror in the cabin, I checked the bite, watching it close up over the last few hours and the only thing that remained was a barely noticeable mark, and it didn’t fade down anymore.
I sat up all night until I couldn’t bear it anymore. William still wasn’t back as I crawled into the bed. Even as sleep flooded in, I pushed against his wall, wanting to at least feel his emotions and know he was alright. I struggled to understand this, and it must have been even worse for him. He looked horrified when he left.
William pressed against me when I woke up, his arm around me, holding me against him. I felt him stir and stayed still, not sure if he would leave again. I felt his finger brush the mark on my shoulder and heard him hiss.
“Fuck sakes. I really fucking marked you.”
Carefully, I pretended to be waking up, and as soon as I did, I felt him still, and I wondered if he was going to leave again. Going still again, I felt him move away, and as quick as I could I grabbed his arm and held onto him.
“Where the fuck are you going?” I said, looking at him.
“Let go.”
“No. You owe me answers! You also need to tell me where the hell you’ve been. I waited for you all fucking night and you blocked me out.” I hissed, upset.
“Just let me go.”
“No! I refuse!” I yelled at him.
He yanked his arm out of my grip and I blocked the door before he could leave.
“No. You’re staying. You don’t get to—-”
“Get out of my way.”
“You did something to me last night. What the hell did you mean by ‘you marked me’?”
“Elias. Get out of my way.”
“No, you’re going to run off again.”
He shoved me into the door roughly and his lips pressed against mine as he growled.
“What happened to never?” I hissed.
“That fucking mark on your neck! That’s what fucking happened!” He snarled.
“What the hell does that have to do with—--”
“It has everything to do with it, Elias! I claimed you as mine! Dont you fucking get it! You can’t be that sheltered that you don’t understand what I’ve done—You have no clue… Fuck sakes!”
“William, I don’t—-”
“I marked you as my life partner, Elias. Fuck me! You can’t even begin to understand what I’ve done. I’ve attached myself to you, in a one sided partnership!” He yelled, his emotions springing free.
Anger, guilt, remorse, compassion, and finally, the feeling of content.
“William, I thought vampires and werewolves couldn’t mate? Henry said the blood bond was the closest we could come to that?”
“It is the closest. You can’t feel the pull of the bond I have to you because of that fucking mark. You don’t even understand in the slightest. I don’t even know why I told you!”
