" You're taking this way too hard!"
I heard her feet gently tap the ground with every step as she drew near. The emptiness of the campus, made every sound seem isolated.
I happen to be sitting at a table in the schoolyard by myself. It was not even a quarter after 6. The fog dampened my clothes and everything surrounding the thickened mist. I sat there on that bench.... wondering where I went wrong.
" Dude- Can, ...Can you just look at me? I'm really worried about you."
" You know listening doesn't require sight," I uttered back breathlessly.
The chilling brisk air filled my nose, freshwater, and morning dew grass swirled together and became more than a scent but a feeling.
From the corner of my eye, I could see the wind playing with Purple's hair and making it take flight.
"It's so fucking cold out here! I can't believe we can't go inside until the bell rings.... but seriously just talk to me.
This isn't about Ja-"
" If it was, why would it matter?"
"Cause, you know you were the best he's ever had and will ever have. You knew you could do so much better than him!"
" I could?"
"Yeah! You could!"
" Then who?"
" Girl- Don't go there!"
The wind stopped. Her hair fell, and she placed her hand on my shoulder. Then swiftly pulled the hood off my jacket, off my head. I abruptly turned my head towards her.
" Now I can see your pretty face!"
"You aren't funny..."
