Mina stopped at Cafe Dohyun to pick up the order of orange juice and french toast for Kaycee; on entering the apartment building, Mina took the elevator to the first floor; walking a couple of steps; to the left, she arrived at the door marked ‘105’ and punched in the keycodes to unlock the door.
Mina went to the kitchen with the paper bag containing her purchase from the cafe; she set them on the kitchen countertop. At 5ft 6in, Mina is tall enough to open the overhead cabinet to take out the prenatal multivitamins that she had secretly ordered for Kaycee.
Mina also took out the pill crusher stored with the prenatal multivitamin; she opened the bottle cap containing the prenatal multivitamin and removed one tablet. Mina placed the tablet in the pill crusher and began applying pressure by twisting and turning the upper part of the pill crusher solid tablet became a fine powder. As Mina was about to pour the contents from the pill crusher into the orange juice, she heard the sounds of the doorbell ringing.
“Who could that be?”
Mina left what she was doing to answer the door.
“You have a certified mail sign for it,” said a man in a black helmet covering his face.
“I see….thanks,” Mina gave her signature on the piece of paper using the pen provided by the delivery man.
Mina saw the man place the signed paper in the pocket of his dark bomber jacket before taking off.

The studio apartment where Kaycee lived became a temporary residence for Mina and had a partition to separate the bedroom from the living room; the space created for the living room had a single couch, a center table, and a study table with a chair. A small spot to the far right is the kitchen. The restroom was adjacent to the living room.
After the delivery man left, Mina opened the certified mail when she got back inside. Mina flipped through the pages of legal documents sent by the legal team of Han & Lily. The longer Mina spent going through the entire document. The corners of Mina’s lips thinned from exasperation.
“If they think they can threaten me with the magnitude of their influence. They haven’t seen anything yet!”
Mina flung the white envelope on the couch and went to the kitchen to finish Kaycee’s breakfast.
When Kaycee missed her period after a visit to the doctor’s office for a pap smear, she dismissed it as stress-related; when the third month was around the corner. Her monthly visitor was strangely absent, and that was when Kaycee knew that it had gone beyond stress. Worried that something didn’t seem right, a trip to her local drug store and two lines on the absorbent stick from the pregnancy kit sent her world crashing down.
Jiho believed in the noblesse duty of showing kindness and being selfless by offering to be an anonymous sperm donor without prior knowledge of his ultra-conservative affluent family. All hell breaks loose when his identity is no longer a secret, thanks to medical misconduct.
