Losing all helpless person's figure, the gray haired man, got up throwing a huge wave of flames in Isami's direction and interrupting his attack. His eyes glowed, and his pupils changed to a cat-like shape.
With the light from the flames brightening the room, his clothing was visible. He was dressed like a warrior, his two swords resting in their scabbards and his shoulder pads with the texture of scales highlighted by his black shirt reflected the red aura that surrounded him at that moment.
Instinctively, Isami swung his scythe as fast as he could to defend himself against the flames, managing to redirect part of them towards the sky.
When Jasmim regained consciousness, she was startled by the amount of magical energy emanating from the boy. Luther was also having a hard time believing what he was seeing.
He looked unwell moments ago and now he managed to cast such strong magic without even using an incantation, Luther thought.
Upon realizing that the man's attack had come to an end, Isami redirected the rest of the flames back to its owner, but Jasmim took the target out of the way before the counterattack reached him.
Hearing footsteps approaching, Poltergeist with the other two hunters took the opportunity to leave and Luther, too tired to stop them, was forced to just watch them go.
Relieved that the battle was over, Jasmimturned to the gray-haired man, again with the displaced and frightened countenance of before and said:
“Are you well?”
“I think so. You're bleeding…”, said the man.
“Don't worry. Luther and I have been through worse than this. When the magic starts to heal the wound, it shouldn't even leave a mark.”
In an attempt to convey confidence, Jasmim flashed a sympathetic smile as blood trickled down her cheek.
Luther, who was looking in the direction of the sound of footsteps, waiting for what might come, was relieved to see that it was his friends. With some injuries, the three emissaries appeared to have engaged in combat, which explained a lot to Luther. Jinn ran ahead of the two girls, while she kept her sword after realizing that there were no more enemies around.
Jinn was the most energetic of the group and his adult and mature appearance often didn't match the way he used to act.
"Luther, Jasmim! Are you all right?”, Jinn said.
"I don't think any of us are doing very well from the looks of it," Luther said.
“Well, boss, the camp was attacked shortly after you left.”
“Stop calling him boss, you know I don't like it!”
“True, I always forget about that.”
“Forget it…”
Luther glared at Jinn who was laughing at him. Kira sighed, feeling reassured that Luther was already more relaxed and the mood was calmer.
Lia watched the two in silence as she held her spear. The elf's good looks betrayed her noble origin and she was mistaken for a human due to her ears being covered most of the time by her pink locks of hair. He had a closed and reserved personality, which tended to put people off.
His look, sometimes interpreted as cold, just analyzed the surroundings trying to deduce what had happened there.
Kira walked over to Jasmim, a little worried about her injuries, but when she checked, she saw that although there was a lot of blood, the cut was only superficial.
"Sorry for the delay, as Jinn said, we were attacked at camp and getting the hunters to back off took longer than I'd like to admit," said Kira.
"Don't worry about it, what matters is that everyone is fine," said Jasmim.
Jasmim tried to reassure Kira with a smile, but she couldn't convey much confidence due to her injuries.m and pointed her spear at his face when she noticed something strange about him.
“Who are you?!”, Lia said.
"Calm down, Leah! I was about to ask him that. No need to worry, he's not a threat!”, said Jasmim.
The three emissaries looked at the boy waiting for an answer, he placed both hands on his face and he was silent for a few minutes making Luther and Jinn look at him worriedly, until he finally replied shyly:
“My… my name is Castiel.”
Extending her hand to shake, Kira said:
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Castiel!"
“Can you stand Jasmim?”, said Lia as she extended her hand to her friend. “I think the sooner we get out of this place the better.”
“I agree with her. We're still going to have to move our camp site, so we'd better get going before I get too lazy”, Jinn said.
"It wouldn't be anything out of the ordinary", Luther teased.
“Hey! Respect the elders!”
Jasmim as she got up made a sign for Castiel to do the same, but he couldn't. Luther went to Castiel, helped him to his feet and offered support to help him walk.
“I think that attack cost you enough. Which was unsurprising, since you didn't even use an enchantment”, Luther said.
"Yeah…my body is pretty heavy", said Castiel.
There was something about Castiel that made Lia uncomfortable, but she could tell by the way he spoke in a low voice and downcast face that he was also afraid.
“He seems to be scared, but he has a strange and somewhat hostile energy, I believe it's better for me to stay alert”, thought Lia.
As they walked to their camp, Kira introduced everyone to Castiel, she was the one who seemed to be most excited about the new member. However, no one commented on it and Jinn wanted to save it to tease her at another time.
