Who is my neighbor? According to the Parable of the Good Samaritan, anyone in need of help.
Particularly, I believe this is not just restricted to beggars, orphans and widows. There are people who have everything but are sorely lacking in God's love.
In my view, we should love everyone around us. We were chosen to be the light of the world and the salt of the earth, living letters to show men the existence of the one true and living God, his tremendous power operating in our lives and his infinity love for us.
We were called to do His Will so that they would look at us and see Jesus Christ living within our hearts and believe in Him.
"14 For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.
15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.
16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer.
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:The old has gone, the new is here!
18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:
19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.
20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.
21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God."
2 Corinthians 5:14-21 NIV.
We must show Jesus Christ through our honest and faithful life in the Word which is the lamp for our feet, our manual of how the children of God should walk/act.
1 My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.
2 He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
3 We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands.
4 Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person.
5 But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him:
6 Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.
1 John 2 : 1 - 6 NIV.
