Ah, Shoujo Tsubaki. I'm already tired of talking about this. Well, I should stop stalling, you all know that I'm a psycho who screws up my brain for your guys' enjoyment... Let's get into it already. Shoujo Tsubaki, made in 1992, is a guro-ero horror movie (and manga), and it is banned in well, basically everywhere. Popular otaku YouTuber Akidearest and many other TikTokers and YouTubers have watched the movie and regretted it. By the way, guro-ero means erotic gore. So, I think you guys already know why it is banned everywhere. Now enough about the background, let's talk about this trainwreck of a story. Oh boy, get your barf bags ready, folks! Oh, but before we start, I just thought y'all should know, the movie is 47-56 minutes long... Dear god.

STORY

Hanamura Midori is a young girl, about 9-12 years old. She was enjoying her life until her father left, and her mother died of an unknown illness. In the movie, her mother is seen with rats pouring out of her body and um... Genitals... Moving on, Midori meets a man named Mr. Arashi, and he asks her to join his circus. And you may be like, "Oh, that's a great idea! Kids love the circus", which first of all, no we don't. And second of all, I think Mr. Arashi misspoke or is a big fat liar. Because when she gets to the "circus", it's more like a freakshow! That means the circus/freakshow abomination is filled with the vilest individuals that could exist. I say this because the people who "work" in the circus thing do terrible things to Midori! They abuse her, they manipulate her, and... They rape her... They just are terrible individuals in general, there's nothing to redeem the workers. There is absolutely nothing good about ANYONE in this circus, with the ONLY exception being Midori herself.

Later in the movie, she meets a guy who is much, much, MUCH older than her. His name is Wonder Masamitsu, and he is a dwarf magician-hypnotist. Well, Midori eventually falls in love with him, (somehow) even though he is ALSO a terrible person. He also has magical powers that can inflate people (?) and he ends up being kinder (?) than the other workers because Midori is ostracized by the others until the appearance of Wonder Masamitsu himself. Later in the movie, they run away from the circus, and Wonder Masamitsu is stabbed by some street punk while on his way to get food for the two of them. Midori searches for him, but cannot find him, believing he abandoned her. After that, Midori has a vision of the circus workers and Masamitsu laughing at her. This proves to be the last straw, and she has another vision, of her killing all of them. After "killing" them with a katana she found, she just stands there, in despair... Violently sobbing, all alone... In the void... After that scene, the credits roll, with the ending song seeming to imply that Midori committed suicide.

MY THOUGHTS

Now I think you know why Shoujo Tsubaki is banned everywhere. I am very tired of everything I had to see and research for this... But I risk my sanity every day for your guys' enjoyment. I'm gonna link all my sources below because I don't wanna get sued for plagiarism. And besides, not linking your sources is just shitty. So yeah, hope you guys enjoyed this episode I guess, and I'm gonna go bathe in holy water! See you later, you sickos. God, how I hate this story.

EDIT: 3/21/23

I have now realized that there is not just an anime, but a movie, a manga, AND a stageplay of Shojo Tsubaki. And no, I will not be talking about them. I've seen enough of this damn anime, haha!

have seen Midori the girl with the camellias and it seemed to me, in my opinion, the most macabre and chilling thing I have ever seen.
