Celeste P.O.V
6 o’clock, punctuality was a must as Empress. No sooner and no later. I sat in that uncomfortable tight emerald green dress wearing that annoying corset crushing my ribs once again. Cassandra tells me to get over it as it shows off my lean figure. My hair was pulled back into a half-up, half-down style this time. Cassandra had fun doing my make-up again and putting a small matching emerald necklace on which rested lightly between my breasts in this low-cut dress. It showed way too much cleavage for my comfort.
I much preferred my war armor, duster skirt, crop tops, tops, hoods, capes, and cloaks. They provided me with the ability to move around better and no corsets were needed. Wearing this imperial garbage was annoying, flashy, and not my style. I felt like a dress-up doll every month on the exact same day I felt like a used piece of meat.
I looked out the window it was now dark. “Dominic…”
“I will check.” He bowed to me. As he was leaving the door opened and revealed Lucas Lucien.
“His Majesty sends his regards and says for you to go ahead and eat as he will take his meal in his office tonight. However, he will still meet you tonight in the royal chambers for consummation. He stated for you to stop whatever you are doing to prevent pregnancy as the Empire requires an heir.” Lucas turned to leave the room.
Raya walked after him and turned him around by his shoulder. “Hey, forgetting something?”
“No, I believe I said everything.” He tilted his head slightly and brushed his shoulder off.
“You are leaving your Empress.”
“Yes, and I am going to go get dinner for my Emperor.”
“Bow.” Raya commanded with a deep growl.
“Why should I?” Lucas smirked. “It’s not as if she is recognized by His Majesty. She is simply Empress by an arranged marriage only. All of the Cassetican Empire knows she has been rejected."
At that last comment, it was as if we could hear Raya’s patience snap. She balled her fists and punched him square in the jaw knocking him to the ground. “Raya! He isn’t worth it.” I stood up and placed my hand on her shoulder. If she kills him, due to his position she could be imprisoned or sentenced to death. I refuse to let anyone harm my people.
“You got lucky this time. Next time I’m breaking bones.” She hissed and returned to my left flank.
Lucas got up and left the room. I knew he was going to tattle. He was a rat. Once Allen returns next week I’m going to make sure he knows what transpired and revenge is sweet.
Later that evening I refused to allow Cassandra to dress me up like a doll for the night. After standing me up, sending that horrible message. I wanted to bite or scratch him but restrained myself from actually doing it and retreated into the darkest depths of my mind.
As I lay in bed lost in my thoughts I imagined tormenting, punishing, and hurting this man who calls himself my husband. How dare he defile me. How dare he make me feel this way. I never wanted this. I hate feeling this way.
Once he finished, he fell asleep quickly. I called forth Vapora, my element of water. With small droplets of water appearing a slender woman with soft, flowing blue hair, blue eyes, and fin-like ears appeared. She wore a short skin tight blue dress. Her skin was fair and had tan slashes almost like a tiger shark across her arms, legs, and chest.
“Vapora, the usual please" I whispered.
“One of these days, you will need to carry his child.” She warned me. “Least he kills you and marries another for fear you are barren.”
“I do not want to bring a child into this world during the war and be thought of as nothing but a pawn by their father.”
“After the war. You must conceive, I do not want you in danger. Even if the father holds no love, they will have a mother, her guard, her house, elements, and the Dragon Kingdom to shower them in affection.” She held me in her arms. “I am sorry, but five years is enough Master.”
I nodded and agreed with her. Shortly I felt agony in my stomach and knew she had begun my cycle by manipulating the water in my blood to initiate it. The fact I have done this every month for five years proves a point to this man. If he cannot show me affection, what do I want from him? I refuse to give him the heir he desires so badly.
The next morning I woke up and Rion was gone, as usual. I got up and opened the curtains. Before I could even get dressed the Head Maid barged into the room. “Once you get dressed, it is time to return to the Annex.” She walked over to make the bed. Her face immediately contorted into disgust. “Useless woman! When did you begin? Does His Majesty know? How are you to conceive an heir for the Empire if this continues?!” She walked over to me and slapped me in the face.
I glared at her and took it as it would only cause problems for my people if I stopped her. He wouldn’t believe me anyway. “Do not give me that look! I have provided six children to my husband. After all these years you have yet to give even a miscarriage.” She pointed her bony finger at me. Annoying old hag.
I smirked at her. “Maybe he is sterile?” My comment caused her jaw to drop as I brushed past her to grab my black duster skirt and plum crop top.
“How…How dare you insinuate!” She barked at me.
I lifted up my hand and provided my middle finger as I began changing in front of her. “What, cat got your tongue?”
“Will you at least change behind the curtains? For God’s sake.” She turned around and made the bed.
“Why? We are both women. Except for your old and wrinkly. At least I have something to look at.” I smiled as I finished slipping my top on.
“You are worse than a foreign dancer!” She glared at me and began leaving the room
I leaned against the wall and crossed my arms. Oh making that little vein pop out on her forehead was so much fun. “Oh thank you! What I’m hearing is I’m a good dancer.”
She eyed my clothing and glared. “You look like a dancer!”
I placed my hand on my heart and gave her a fake smile. “Oh, you are making my heart flutter with your compliments this morning.”
She slammed the door as she left huffing. I rolled my eyes. No respect. None. Part of me wants to stay here to spite her but most of me just want to go take my frustrations out in training. The War General side of me won and I made my way quickly out of the room.
On my way to the Main Palace, I bumped into Lyra, my younger sister-in-law. I looked at her slightly confused wondering why she was unaccompanied by her guards.
“Oh my! Where are you going?” She put her finger to her chin and tilted her head slightly.
“Out” I said curtly. I learned never to give information to this girl. She contorted, twisted, and manipulated any small amount of information she could obtain to her own advantage when it came to me. She has never liked me since I was a child and her mother would come to the Country Estate and spend time with me and would bring Rion to spend time with the sons of the servants there to teach him humility and assist in his swordsmanship training as they were the sons of Aura Masters, one being Dominic who is still to this day he has not defeated.
She swung her body in front of me, blocking my path. “Out. Out where?”
“Not here.”
“Why?” She smiled. “Is big brother too busy again? The Head Maid is upstairs yelling a lot at the other maids. I saw her throwing sheets at a poor young girl. Do you know why?” She put on a fake concerned expression. “Oh my! Where those your sheets?”
“Goodbye Lyra.” I sidestepped and made my way past her.
“When do I get to be an Aunt? It’s been so long?” She made a fake dramatic gasping sound. “Don’t tell me, are you barren! We must inform big brother immediately!”
I rolled my eyes and put my hands on my hips. “Try your brother has issues performing.”
She gasped and her eyes went wide. Finally, a genuine response from this wench. I tossed my hair over my shoulder and walked away.
