War About to End

6.1: First Day

6.1: First Day

Apr 12, 2023

Another two days were needed to settle in. He preferred to remain at home in the interim. Eldric approached his father late at night, and his father was pleased with the decision. He cooked his favorite stripped bacon while staying with Eldric the entire next day. On a cold night, Eldric and Eugene sat for supper.

"It looks like you are munching the food." Eugene was observing with a slight chuckle at Eldric's interaction with his food.

"Aahh…. That's how I eat my favorite dish." Being able to tell such a lie was embarrassing. Eldric liked stripped bacon a lot, but it had to be a fine pink and he liked it when it was raw. Eldric's stare at it was appropriate when comparing the two. There were eight of them, and none of them smelled raw or looked pink. It appeared black and partially overcooked. Eldric didn't show disrespect for his father's affectionate gestures.

"Is it? I had no idea that my child had such an odd habit." Eugene moved on from the issue and concentrated on his meal. Eldric faked a beam of light at him.

"Did you decide to go back to school because you forgot how that day filled your chest?"

"I didn't-" Eldric paused for a while, acting like he was eating.

"What has transpired so abruptly?"

"I don't know, maybe I forgot that when I get to school, I'll be the failed student sitting next to the juniors," he said. Eldric left the table after finishing the last two bacon slices on his plate. Eugene didn't give look at him when he was leaving. While pouring the wine into the glass, he exhaled.

"Son, you are once more suffering from your lack of resolution." Eldric sipped from the glass. Eldric, who was about to enter his room, was grabbed by his words. He remained still and did not look back.

"Be grateful to our wolf for what he gave us. The most secure place in Germany, a school where he allowed you the opportunity to be his successor and lead individuals of your kind." Eldric entered his room without pausing for a moment.

"Then you won't be sorry for your choices. I fear you will in the future." Eugene yelled at him. "Very much like your dad does."

While stretched out on the bed, Eldric held his breath and stared at the ceiling. When he discovered the book that his mother used to read, "The Enchanted April," he got up and fixed his messy table. He didn't turn the page to read this book because he thought it was too girly. However, ever since Eugene granted him permission to keep it, he kept it in his room. Three months ago, it was at the top of the table, but now it has faded inside the mess. He then opened the cupboard to get a closer look at the uniform before going to sleep.

*****

Last day before the weekend. Eldric woke up early and set about making coffee.

Due to the inclement weather, it appeared to be dark as dusk. He realized it and shut the window. He dunked his first toast into it; he looked at his dad's entryway. The door was shut from the outside. On the hanger, one of Eugene's jackets was also missing.

"Hello, dear! at least, you promised to eat something from the pocket I gave you." Eldric was tucking his shirt when he heard a brash noise outside.

"I'm aware of this. You need not worry about me constantly. Keep in mind how I saved lives during the bridge accident." Sascha answered. " This will get me something!"

"That is great to hear." Eldric showed up at Sascha's house. "They will also reward women. That sounded good," Sacha said, her eyes wide open, as was Mrs. Albrecht's.

"So, you finally decided what to do then. It's good to see you back." As she observed his expression, Sascha encouraged him. Since they were kids, she knew how he was feeling.

"I ain't. I just want to go for the sake of my father. I continue to experience anxiety."

"Hey, c'mon. Everything will work out fine."  When someone walked up the stairs in their direction, Sascha couldn't stop talking. "Everything gonna be on your track aga-" She had her bag held by Mr. Albrecht, too. A skinned lady who looked more established than her age. Her wide face is obscured by her dark blonde hair. Sascha forced a hug on her as he moved closer to her.

"Aida, you came sister!" Sacha's loud whispering was Aida smiled frowningly in response.

"Well, the rehab told us to take her outside and let her breathe fresh air," Mr. Albrecht gave a reason for it. She was brought home by Mr. Albrecht.

"Aida, I'll be back soon." Sacha and Eldric left them. "We will have a nice talk together, and it will be an hour-long conversation of 'why'."
