Mr Chronos's POV

"Ahh!" I let out a sigh as I sipped tea in my office and started to look through the files on my computer (yes computer, we are mages not cavemen) I clicked on a file that's been bothering me since I adopted Simon as my foster son, just as I was about to look through it, a knock at the door interrupted me.

"Sir, I have two students here who got into a fight." The voice behind the door said.

"Again!" I thought to myself, one of them is definitely Alfonso but the other is either Simon or Arthur.

"Come in" I replied, and the door opened with Mr Stuart dragging the two students to the front of my desk.

Turns out it was William, the most level headed amongst the three of them, and just by looking at them I can tell there wasn't really a fight as there's no fresh bruise on either of them.

"You can leave now Edward, I will handle it from here." I gestured to him to leave. "Yes sir!" He took a small bow and left, closing the door behind him.

"Well Alfonso this is your third offence, means I have to take action against you, but William this is a surprise I thought you of all people wouldn't end up in my office over something like this." The two of them stood still with their hands behind their back as I reprimanded them.

"Sigh! Please take a seat and tell me what happened this time." I gestured to the seats behind them before taking a seat as well.

"Alfonso said Simon was a fraud of a mage as he couldn't manifest his mana into the training sword, I got mad by his remark and shouted at him." William explained looking as composed as he always did.

"Alfonso, is this true?" I asked, looking into Alfonso's eyes. "You already know the answer to that. Sir." He replied with looks of defiance. Just as I was about to speak again the door burst open and Arthur came walking in with Simon behind him,

"SIR! Bill's innocent, he didn't even get physical." Arthur said the moment he entered through the door. "Simon and I can vouch…." "That's enough of ya nonsense" another student came in and interrupted. Great! Just what I needed, another student came to defend his friend.

This student name is Shayn Chen a member of a servant class family serving the Hapsburg family,

"Mr Chronos, Alfonso didn't do nuttin he twas minding his own business."

He began to speak as if he was defending Alfonso in court.

"YOU LIE!!!" Arthur shouted at Shayn, turning to me he continued "Mr Chronos, Alfonso was the one who started it, I mean William is not the type to get into fights." 

"ENOUGH!!!!" I yelled to get them to stop arguing. "THIS ISN'T SOME COURT OF LAW, AND THE BOTH OF YOU ARE NOT LAWYERS DEFENDING YOUR CLIENT." I was fuming mad as I lectured them.

"Now, all of you except Alfonso and William go to class before I change my mind about not punishing everyone."

Simon came up to my table, bowed and said "I'm sorry sir, we shall not disturbed you further." And dragged Arthur out but Shayn stood there not moving. "Didn't you hear what I said?" I asked fiercely, staring daggers into him. Alfonso gestured to him telling him to leave and he did so obediently.

Simon's POV

“I did try to warn you, y’know.” I said to Art after we left the office. Although this was my first time seeing Mr Chronos rage up, but I wasn’t surprised about it as there were often students going into his office for discipline issues.

“I thought he would side with us like he always did.” Art replied. “Well, he is the headmaster, he has to be fair to both parties.” I reasoned. “ Hey! Whose side are you on?” he asked, looking irritated. “Mr Chronos’s” I replied honestly. “C’mon! We better get to class, otherwise we will be in trouble too.”

As expected we got detention for being late to class despite our “good will” to help Bill, and we missed out quite a lot during the first part of the lesson. So Mr Joseph (our history teacher) gave us detention at the library so we can study what we missed.

We carried on the rest of the day attending classes, and Bill didn’t return until lunch.

“Hey, what happened?” I asked the moment he joined us at the table. “What did you expect? I got detention after dinner in the library as I missed out half a day of classes.” he then glared at Art as he said  “Thanks for that by the way!”  “Hey! I was trying to help you” Art said, annoyed that he wasn’t appreciative of what he did. “And FYI we also got detention for being late to class.” “You guys could have avoided that if you went to class first!” Bill yelled, “you always do this, always trying to play the hero thinking you are the greatest, not caring about the consequences and every time I have to clean up your mess.”

“Is everything alright?”a voice from behind said, Elizabeth appeared and asked before things went out of control

“I need some air.” Bill got up and headed for the exit. Art also got up without saying a word and headed for the exit. “Hey! New guy, you got some explaining to do.” Elizabeth commanded as she stared at me. I told her everything that happened during the day and after listening closely to every detail she said “I see, well…..things will calm down after a while and after that it will be like nothing ever happened.” “I hoped so.” I wished out loud “Oh, time for class, we better go.” she said leaving.

The rest of the day Art and Bill won’t even look at or talk to each other, even after school ended at 3.45 in the afternoon, they just walked past each other like they were complete strangers. When I entered my room I saw Art sitting on his bed playing with his phone. “You really aren't gonna talk to Bill?” I asked. “Not until he apologises.” he replied, still playing his phone, I sighed and took my bathing stuff and went to wash up.

As the warm water pelted my face, I started to relax and clear my mind of what happened during the day. And that's when I heard it "Are you enjoying your new found powers?" A familiar disembodied gruff voice asked. I opened my cubicle door a bit and looked around but there was nobody but me in the bathroom.

Thinking that I had just imagined it, I continued with my shower. "Ahhh…it won't be long now till I'll finally take control of your body" it continued saying, feeling a little freaked out I finished my shower, got dressed and left the bathroom as quickly as possible.
