The next morning I was escorted by four armed guards one in front of me, another behind me, the other two to my sides.
I was blindfolded and levitated the whole way. I think they didn't want me to know where I was going until I got there.
After an unknown period of time. We stopped and I was unbound and strapped to a chair. The feeling of fear was heavily weighing on me, I could hear voices all around me and as they strapped my arms to the metal cuff on the chair. "This is it!" I thought "They are going to electrocute me without trial" I closed my eyes hoping for the worst when….I heard "all rise for His Majesty Caesar Augustus II! " I don't know who was speaking as I was still being blindfolded but I could hear shuffling around me and all the whispering a few moments before had all stopped.
"You all may be seated, court is in session." A kind but authoritative voice said to the crowd. "Oh for Jupiter's sake, take the blindfold off his head!" The voice suddenly shouted.
That's when a bright light suddenly hit my eyes, as my sight was slowly recovering I realised I was in a courtroom, strapped to a chair in the middle.
As I try to scan my surroundings
The same kind authoritative voice caught me off guard"Are you alright Simon?"
I looked up to see a man in his early fifties standing on a high balcony looking down with a look of concern.
I could only stare at the man (whom I assumed to be Caesar Augustus II) in awe, this one of the most powerful mages in the world, yet here he is overseeing a minor trial and showing concern to me?
I suddenly felt a slap across my face as a guard in armour said "Caesar asked you a question. Answer him!"
"There's no need for that." Caesar said, glaring at the guard who immediately bowed in apologies and returned to his position. "I'm fine. Your Majesty." I managed to say.
"Good, good." He replied with a smile. Then turned to crowd and said
"Then let the trial commence!"
The following is what happened during the trial written from a third person perspective
The trial started with Alfonso Hapsburg Sr being called in as a witness.
He testified the event of the day when Simon Blake attacked his son, and repeatedly accused Simon of intentionally harming Alfonso Jr. He even went as far as to accuse Gregory Chronos for not looking out for the students safety on school grounds.
"Lord Hapsburg, I understand your grief as your son is the victim but please refrain from baseless accusations." Chronos rebuked. "We cannot prevent every and all accidents around the school but we will do our best to ensure our students have a comfortable environment to learn and grow." After finishing, the crowd was in a frenzy.
"Order! Order!" His Majesty said, trying to control the crowd. As the crowd calmed down he then said " we are not here to debate on whether the school is safe for our children. But if the defendant did indeed act with intentions to kill Alfonso Hapsburg Jr."
"With all due respect, Your Majesty. Lord Chronos intends to let us believe that the defendant has no control over his own powers and yet teachers and students alike testified that the defendant has been able to conjure his power at will and show no sign of losing control…that is until now." Alfonso's lawyer said, giving a sly smile towards Chronos. "Care to elaborate on that..Lord?"
"Your Majesty, if I may bring up the terrible event that happened three years ago." Chronos reminded the court.
"The defendant wasn't a mage by birth and after the accident three years ago, he somehow managed to gain dark magic. If most of you remember that trial, the defendant was accused of illegally obtaining dark magic despite being only eight years old at the time."
"Yes, I remember. That case was so traumatic that we had to erase it from the memory of the people nearby and silence the media." His Majesty recalled.
Afterwards he asked "What's your point?"
"During that trial the majority originally wanted to execute a child just for having dark magic. Just because it's a crime." Lord Chronos argued.
"The use of dark magic is illegal." An older nobleman rebuked. " The reason the boy is alive was because you convinced us he could learn to control it!
Now he has attacked an innocent child using the same dark magic. It's only a matter of time till we are all victims!"
"Then we should provide proper training for the boy so he can better control them" another nobleman who looked to be around the same age as Lord Chronos piped up.
"Lord Hades, and who will train him? You? The underworld has no business in polite society. You are only here as a courtesy." The older nobleman from before rebuked.
"Your Majesty, I would like to remind the court that it is thanks to my Network in the criminal underworld as well as the underworld that has provided information to our Mages out on mission regardless if it's here in the U.S or overseas." Lord Hades spoke in a respectful manner before turning back to the older nobleman
"I wonder what would happen if the information got lost during your guild's mission….Lord?" He threatened.
"You wouldn't…" The older nobleman answered angrily
"Why do men always want to start a fight?" A young woman spoke,as she made her way to the centre of the court. "Your Majesty, I have a proposal. I request to speak to you and a few other mages in private." She bowed respectfully in front of His Majesty's balcony.
"Lady Metis, before I grant your request, I want to know who the other mages are."
His Majesty commanded.
"Yes, they are Lord Chronos, Lord Hades and Lady Narcisa." She replied.
"Very well, the court will take a five minute recess." His Majesty slammed the gravel and walked to the back room, those whose names were called went to join him.
