Resistance vs Persistence

Persistence is a phase of low growth for bacteria that allows them to weather stressful conditions (like an antibiotic storm), but likely isn’t permanent. Resistance is a gene that counteracts the antibiotic, and therefore stays through generations. E. Coli’s optimistic, Bacillus less so. And phage is just there for the word play.
