I find success bias to be so toxic and it overpopulates my social feeds. People saying "I got successful doing something and you can too if you do what I did!" makes me sick. Nothing I've ever tried to manifest has ever come true and I don't believe you can copy someone else's success or make a formula for it. But that's what people want to hear is "follow these steps for success" but there is so much more to it than doing the work. There is a lot of luck and timing involved and opportunity/privilege that comes into play. I think people just pretend to be experts and giving advice is a great way to get views but that's a whole different content model than actually doing something helpful. Motivational speakers are the worst. They speak from the other side having survived a crisis and tell you you can do what they do and have the same outcome. If it were that simple, everything would be fine and dandy. But it's not. I've failed my whole life and taken every bit of advice given to me and not a single endeavor has ever paid off. Everyone has their own path and everyone's journey towards success and whatever accomplishments are unique and irreplicable. Success bias is poison and I advise avoiding it at all costs because it only leads to disappointment. That's been my experience anyway. Hope you have a different outcome than me.

Mental health matters. So here is my attempt to keep the conversation going and help us become less ashamed to talk about our issues so we don't feel like we have to struggle alone anymore.
