When I saw a guy wearing torn jeans for the first time, I thought he was poor and couldn't afford to buy new pants. (He also wore old shoes and his hair was long and tangled.) I felt even sympathetic toward him! So when I found out that all those things were just his fashion style, I felt kind of betrayed!
