A new character and the topic of my dissertation: Proteus mirabilis! Proteus, like the Greek god it’s named after, can radically change its shape from short rod shape to lengthening its size 5 to 50 fold. Its elongated form helps with its collective motility known as swarming. But it does involve getting along with your siblings…
