He spoke in that rough tone as always as he peered at me out of the corner of his eye. He didn’t seem the most… happy about my existence and I had more theories than answers as I followed him into the building.
“What’s the plan for tomorrow?”
I asked the three of them as either Rose or Tetra closed the door. We walked into what appeared to be a dining room, directly opposite the dining room was a kitchen and there were two hallways to either side of the main room. In the center of the living room were a few wooden chairs and a wooden table. It took me some time but I realized that the architecture of this world was closer to that of the Middle Ages or Renaissance than modern times. I suddenly had worries about plumbing and running water while the other three put their items down. As I walked around the room it took some time before Tetra answered the question I left in the air what felt like minutes ago
“Well… a mix of training and getting you clothes, armor, and other such necessities saying as you don’t have any.”
I nodded in acknowledgment as I grit my teeth, this action was noticed as Lance asked
“What? Not a fan of training?”
I smirked and shook my head
“Not when I can look forward to sparing superhumans.”
Rose let out a sigh as she sat in a chair. She leaned back so only 2 legs were on the floor as she rested her feet on the table and spoke
“Nah, you're out of shape. We’ll probably have you do cardio. It’ll be the fastest way to whip you into shape.”
I laughed at her words as she looked at me with a raised brow and I shrugged
“You're not wrong, each of you is pretty lean or even muscular, then I look like I had one too many rounds at the buffet.”
I smirked at my joke before asking
“But do we have time for that? This whole war thing seems pretty bad.”
The three of them looked at each other as Tetra and Lance finally sat down. Tetra spoke with some hesitation
“Well… it depends on a lot of things… but we have at most 3 months. This was time we were going to use to train but-“
“Now we have to babysit you.”
Lance spoke rudely. At their words, a few things clicked into place as I leaned against the wall next to the front door. I was silent for a bit, digesting the new information and the less new information when Rose spoke
“Worst case, if we can get you into shape by the normal means we sever an arm and let that play out.”
My thoughts went to a halt as I glared at her, trying to figure out if she was making a joke in bad taste or being serious. She raised a brow at me as she asked
“Did you guys not have a way to heal… a way to heal? Like potions or recovery pills?”
I looked at her for a few drawn-out seconds as I spoke
“We did and didn’t. A severed arm was a severed arm. No way to recover from that… but there were some advances before I was kidnapped so maybe prosthetics could have gotten better.”
I saw her blush in embarrassment as she spoke
“My mistake, we have healing magic here, it can recover many wounds and injuries given time but also burns the person's fat and stamina to speed up recovery. So if we cut off an arm we can burn off several dozen pounds off you.”
“My arm doesn’t weigh that much.”
I said with a smirk as a chill ran down my back. I could tell they had stopped giving so much info as a way not to overload me so I asked
“Since it’s getting late and we have to get up early tomorrow anyway-“
I spoke as I stopped leaning against the wall and set my book on the table
“Is there anything you guys would like to know about me?”
The three looked at each other when they asked
“You know about magic, but you didn’t have magic? How does that work?”
Rose asked and I chuckled
“Imagination… in many forms of entertainment we had fantasy-like settings with monsters and such… there was even a common trope of people from our wild being dragged into another.”
I laughed
“But differences in interpretations meant differences in lots of stories, which is why I know next to nothing about this world, and also why I think it’s fake.”
“Didn’t you say this is real though?”
Tetra asked and I shook my head as I looked up at the ceiling
“I have no clue…”
I spoke before asking
“Where should I sleep tonight?”
Lance pointed behind himself as he spoke
“At the end of that hallway, there is a door on your right. That’s your room.”
I nodded as I grabbed the book. As I began to make my way down the hallway I spoke
“I hope to see you three tomorrow.”
As I entered the room it was about a 10-foot by 10-foot square with a desk, a bookshelf, and a bed, almost like a dorm. The bed had blue sheets that mixed poorly with the normal brown wooden log cabin vibe of the rest of the room and house. I set the book back down on the desk as I flopped onto the bed and rolled onto my back to look at the ceiling for a while. I let my mind drift from one thing to another as I barely noticed my eyelid grow heavy and shut as I fell asleep.
