While eating dinner with Adam, Kaeso still could not comprehend what had happened at the teacher’s office. Has she even the competencies to make him go to school while everyone else enjoys their time on the trip? Also, why he needed to take care of a newbie? This whole situation was so abstract that the more Kaeso thought about it, the more his head hurt. If he would not cause so many “problems” to the school, he might go to the principal to complain about his treatment. Still, it would probably get only worse concerning his reputation.
Kaeso was sick and tired of the constant problems brought upon him by his classmates. Each of them was scared of confronting him face to face, but they were still disturbing his peace. Almost every two weeks, there was some kind of complaint.
“Kaeso is smoking cigars.”
“It is impossible to work with Kaeso on the group projects.”
Those were only a few which repeated most frequently. Kaeso was thankful to the teachers that they gave up on scolding him after hearing about those misconducts. Instead of inviting him to office hours and trying to change his behavior with discussions or lectures, they simply gave him some comments regarding his actions during or after the lessons. It was an unwritten agreement between Kaeso and the teachers to handle everything publicly. Thanks to that, both sides saved lots of time and nerves. Teachers scolded Kaeso, to the delight of class members, and he silently listened to their comments. It seemed as if everyone was fulfilling their duties. Considering that nothing had changed in past years, Kaeso did not understand why his classmates were still wasting their energy ruining every day he attended school.
Adam must have seen the anger and confusion written on Kaeso’s face. He decided to break the silence and try to encourage him to explain.
“Something has happened at the school, huh?
“Yeah, I got suspended…”
“Again?!”
“And Now I have to Take Care of Some Random Dude!” Kaeso was rising his voice to emphasize the disappointment.
“And whose fault it that?”
“Excuse me? They can’t force me to waste my time babysitting. He should be mature enough to find out where the classes and toilet are located. I can draw him a map if he needs one.” Kaeso could not calm down.
“I hope it won’t surprise you, but besides getting educated, people also go to school to get to know others and make friends.”
“I have nothing against it, but I would kindly ask everyone not to try to make me a part of it.”
“You should try getting open to the others.” He was not giving up on convincing Kaeso.
“As I mentioned many times, I don’t need others.”
“Then why are you spending your time with me?”
“With you, it’s a completely different story.”
“Right, because I bribed you to start talking with me.” Adam laughed.
“That’s not the truth.”
“Are you sure?”
“Okay, there is a bit of truth in that theory... but just a bit."
