TW: Blood. This is going to be the only blood tw I put for the rest of the series. You're reading a vampire book. Blood is a must.

Tommy cursed Lucas in his head, muttering under his breath about all the things he should have said to him when a small scream, that was quickly muffled, echoed through the alleyway Tommy was just walking past.

He froze in his steps straining to hear. There was definitely a woman crying in there.

Tommy looked around him. It was already really dark. The only light coming from the occasional street lights, which wasn’t much. And there was no one around to witness him going in and possibly never coming out. He shook out his hands and wiped his palms on his jeans. Should he go check it out? He has to check it out. Make sure she’s okay. What if he has to fight? What if there’s more than one?

“Fuck,” Tommy muttered under his breath before quietly stepping into the darkness. It took a second for his eyes to adjust but when they did he took in two figures.

A man with his face in a woman’s neck, his hand over her mouth and his other hand restraining both of her hands between them.

The woman’s screams were being quieted as she struggled against him.

Tommy took two large steps toward the man, gripped his shoulder, pulled him off her, and punched him as hard as he could in the asshole’s jaw. 

Tommy stood in front of the woman protectively as she slid to the ground. The man stumbled back in shock, looking at Tommy in pure panic, he tried to get back towards the girl but Tommy blocked him off.

“Get the fuck away from her!” Tommy yelled.

“No… you don’t understand! You might have made me tear an artery let me through so I can save her!” The man yelled.

Tommy laughed humorously, “Save her? You were just assaulting her, you bastard!”

“She’s going to die! Move!” The man stepped into the moonlight and that’s when Tommy knew.

He knew this boy.

“Keagan?” Tommy furrowed his eyebrows.

Keagan’s eyes widened, “what the- you know who I am?”

Tommy shrugged, still defensive, “You’re the new soccer captain. Everyone knows you.”

“You go to my school?” Keagan’s expression turned to pure horror.

“Yes?”

Keagan had to do something. This random woman was bleeding out unconscious on the floor and this random kid knew who he was. 

He faded the few feet over to the blonde boy, pinning him to the wall and piercing his fangs into his neck. A shocked gasp and pained whimper escaped the boy's lips as Keagan took large gulps of his sweet blood. He was unprepared for the explosion of flavors that he nearly lost himself in it. However, he immediately struggled to ground himself and only drank what he needed to get this boy to pass out. 

Keagan gently set him down, leaving the two holes on his neck to leak out small drops of blood while he tended to the woman, healing her with a liquid that comes from a gland under his tongue. 

She was fine…

Keagan sighed collapsing against the wall opposite of the two unconscious people in front of him.

He covered his nose from the heavenly scent, glaring at the blood leaking from the boy’s neck.

‘Try fresh blood’ Ray said. ‘It’ll be good’ Ray said. This was a fucking illegal pain in the ass. What was he supposed to do with them now? At least he knew where the woman’s address was. They had been chatting on a dating app for a while now. 

But he had no clue what to do with this guy and his addicting blood.

Gene and Linc were going to kill him.

Keagan’s eyes trailed down the boy’s body, his eyes landing on the phone that was nearly falling out of his pocket. Keagan crawled over to it, turning it on. The lock screen was a picture of the blonde kid and someone who looked almost identical to him. His sibling maybe? Then there was a woman with long blood-red hair and a man with greasy shoulder-length brown hair. There looked to be colorful lights in the background. Keagan swiped up on the screen and it immediately opened to his home screen with an array of unorganized apps and a million lame mobile games.

No password.

Keagan pressed the messages app and it opened a text thread between someone named Bubz. Looks like this guy, Tommy, just left a party and he and Bubz seem to be pretty close.

Keagan hit the call button. It only rang once.

“Hey, Tommy. You okay?”

“Hi,” Keagan said, shyly.

“Who’s this?” Worry immediately took over this stranger’s voice. Keagan could hear rustling like he had just stood up.

“Um, I’m a friend of… Tommy’s. He had too much to drink so I decided to walk him home but now he’s passed out and I have no idea what his address is.”

“God- he promised he wouldn’t- ugh. I’m sorry you got dragged into this. I’ll go pick him up. Where are you?”
