As the thick fog continued to envelop the ship, the crew watched in wonder as a group of crows flew towards them, their wings flapping furiously. It wasn't until one of the crows dropped a letter and a small package of food onto the deck that the crew realized what was happening. With a sense of happiness and thankfulness in their hearts, one of the soldiers picked up the letter and began to read it to the rest of the crew:
"To Whom It May Concern,
We have been watching your ship carefully using our crows and have observed your bravery in defeating a ship of Mobe. It is clear that you are a force to be reckoned with, and we would like to extend our hand in friendship.
We would like to offer you food and supplies to aid in your journey across the Atlantic, as well as lead you to our country. We see great potential in you and your crew, and we believe that we can help each other achieve our goals.
Please consider our offer, and know that we await your response with great anticipation.
Sincerely,
The Norddeutschland Government"
The words on the page brought a sense of hope and relief to the crew, who had been struggling to survive since the devastating fire that had consumed their ship. Despite not knowing the names or intentions of those onboard, the Norddeutschland Government had recognized their bravery and wanted to offer assistance.
For the next few days, the crew of the ship was amazed as the crows continued to drop down food onto the deck of the ship every few hours, accompanied by a map that would guide them to their destination. The crew couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude toward the Norddeutschland Government for their assistance in such dire circumstances. Meanwhile, Fate Kure finally woke up after several days of being unconscious, his body still weak from the Vig Rage. As he slowly regained his strength, he spoke to his father, Captain Lizar Kure. "What happened? Where are we?" Fate asked, disoriented from his time unconscious. "We're still on course for our destination," Lizar replied, his mind preoccupied by the new challenge of navigating through the decks of the ship without eyes. As the days passed, the soldiers on board solemnly tossed the bodies of the rebels overboard, tasked with the unpleasant duty of disposing of the dead. They decided to keep one body, that of Hosha, concealed in a small box in the storage room, unsure of what to do with the remains of the fire manipulator.
As the days passed, the fog that had been plaguing the ship began to clear out, and the crew found themselves sailing under a bright blue sky, with a cool breeze blowing across the decks. It was a welcome respite from the harrowing experiences they had undergone, and some of the crew members even began to sunbathe, enjoying the warmth of the sun on their skin. "This feels amazing," one soldier said, sighing contentedly. "I haven't felt this good in a long time." "Agreed," another soldier replied. "It's almost like we're on a vacation." As they chatted amongst themselves, the names of three soldiers were revealed. "Hey, William, pass me that jug of water, will you?" one soldier said to another. "Sure thing, George," William replied, handing over the jug. "I can't believe we made it this far," James said, looking out over the sparkling waters. "But we still have a long way to go."
For the next two months, the crew enjoyed smooth sailing, with no major obstacles to overcome. Occasionally, they had to replace the sails or fix the sides of the ship, but these were minor issues that were quickly dealt with. They spent their days wiping the deck, getting rid of the stench inside the ship, and keeping watch for any sign of land. For Lizar, the most daunting task was learning how to walk blind. He had to rely on his other senses to get around the ship, memorizing every nook and cranny until he could navigate it without hesitation. It was a difficult and frustrating process, but he was determined to overcome this new challenge.
Chapter 8 brings a much-needed respite from the trials and tribulations that the crew has faced thus far. With the help of the Norddeutschland Government, they are able to enjoy smooth sailing for the next two months, with the worst problems they encounter being minor repairs on the ship. The crew members spend their days chatting, sunbathing, and marveling at the pristine blue skies above them. For Lizar, the challenge of learning to walk blind is daunting, but he is determined to persevere. In this chapter, we also learn the names of the three remaining soldiers: William, George, and James.
