It had been a few months since the crew had arrived in Hamburg, and Lizar's business had grown exponentially. What started as a humble bookstore had now expanded to include a weapon shop, and he was quickly becoming one of the most popular merchants in town. Everywhere he went, people recognized him as one of the richest and most powerful individuals in Hamburg.
As the months went by, Fate Kure found himself spending most of his days practicing his sword skills in the woods outside of Hamburg. He had also talked to Anna Kira, Hamton's daughter. They quickly fell in love, and before they knew it, they were married in a small ceremony in Hamton's mansion. Fate had never been happier, and he still had a whole life ahead of him. Meanwhile, Hamton was still out at sea, convinced that he would someday find a sea monster. William, George, and James had each found their own separate houses in Hamburg, using some money borrowed from Lizar to get started. They were content with their new lives, enjoying the peace and tranquility of their surroundings.
However, the crew's peace would soon be disrupted by an unexpected danger. A neighbor of Hamton's mansion, who had been jealous of their success, had watched as Lizar's business grew and his own began to decline. Determined to restore his own wealth, he had hired hitmen to hunt down the members of the Hamton house and eliminate them. The hamton mansion had no idea what was coming their way, but they wouldn't be safe for much longer.
Five days later, Fate Kure found himself once again practicing his sword skills in the woods. What he didn't expect was a sudden interruption: a man appeared out of the trees and offered him a drink. "You must be thirsty," the man said. "Here, have a drink." Fate gladly accepted, but then he remembered that Hamton had a huge feast planned for dinner. In worry of losing his appetite, Fate handed the drink back. The mysterious man, of course, had backups. He started pulling something out from his back. Fate, curious, watched closely as he saw a bright reflection of the sun coming from the object. The reflection hit his eyes directly, and for that split second where Fate couldn't see anything, the man took out his weapon and slashed at him. Fate's quick reaction speed allowed him to dodge the slash by ducking, barely losing a small hair. The two then engaged in a furious battle. "I would win this fight easily if I wasn't so worn out by my sword training," Fate thought to himself.
The battle had been raging on for about 20 minutes now. Fate had been both chasing after the hitman and being chased by him around the forest. He was starting to feel worn out and knew he couldn't keep it up much longer. But he had one trick up his sleeve - a special move he had been practicing for the last few days. Fate slashed at the hitman, expecting him to dodge it. He then energized the sword with his electricity manipulation ability. Even if the hitman was some distance away from the sword, the electricity could jump from the sword to the man, rendering him immobile for a few seconds. It went exactly to plan, and as the hitman fell to the ground after being shocked by the electricity, Fate took a final slash at his neck, knowing that was the most vital spot to attack. Blood spurted out of the man, and he tried to scream, but he couldn't as his vocals were destroyed. He tried to get back up, but started feeling dizzy. Then he went unconscious, then dying just a moment later. Fate then called this move "shocking slash" after seeing how the fight ended.
Fate ran down the mountain, out of the forest, and back to Hamton's mansion to tell them the news. "We've been targeted," he gasped out, "Someone hired hitmen to kill us." Hamton listened carefully to Fate's story and considered his options. "It's not safe for the Kure family to stay here any longer," he said. "You guys should sail back to New York City!" But Lizar Kure was quick to object. "Sailing back to New York would be suicide," he warned. "We abandoned that city to survive!" Hamton thought for a moment before finally suggesting, "Then you'll sail to Boston. It's a safe place, and you can start anew there." The Kure family agreed with Hamton's decision and started packing their things. Hamton also insisted that Anna go with them, now that she was married to Fate and a part of the Kure family. "The kure's need someone to steer the ship," Hamton explained, "And only you know how to do that."
In Chapter 10, the crew settles into their new lives in Hamburg, enjoying the peace and tranquility they have found. However, their success soon draws the attention of a jealous rival merchant who hires hitmen to hunt them down. Fate Kure engages in a fierce battle with one of the hitmen and narrowly escapes with his life. This prompts Hamton to suggest that the Kure family leave Hamburg and sail to Boston for safety. Anna, now married to Fate and part of the Kure family, agrees to go with them and will be in charge of steering the ship.
