Annabell stared at the mirror, she frowned, and her cheeks took on a reddish hue—it was anger. The scene from minutes ago passed through her mind and the stupid smile, plastered on the face of the redhead, was the biggest highlight of that scene. She felt like going back in time and punching him in the face.
"You should thank Ezariel for protecting you from the paint." Diana rubbed her arm over and over again, her almond skin already red. "It won’t come off and it itches. It feels like there are thousands of ants crawling on my body! I would give anything to be able to punch that blonde in the face!" Bluish continued to rub her body.
"I won't thank him." the princess. Having to thank Ezariel for something seemed like a joke. "Try going to the mermaid lake. It’s the only place I think can help you. And if it works, you’ll still have your skin!"
Annabell approached her colleagues and the marks were getting redder. The color was still on the girls' skin—in a short time, it would become flesh.
"If you’re thinking of doing something, stop. Lizzy knows that attacking you directly will not work. Including what she did today can bring many problems. She wants to make you lose your head, so people will no longer be on your side." Diana had a serious tone. She would not like to see Annabell becoming hated by people. "That's what Gael said, and from her actions, it seems to be true. Let me and little Rosa take care of her!" The blue-haired girl hugged her sister. "You should thank Ezariel for protecting you from the paint." Diana rubbed her arm repeatedly, her caramel skin already turning red. "This won't come off and it itches. It feels like there are thousands of ants crawling on my body! I would give anything to punch that blonde in the face!" The blue-haired girl continued to rub her body.
"I'm not going to thank him." the princess grimaced. Having to thank Ezariel for anything seemed like a joke. "Try going to the mermaids' lake. It's the only place I think can help you. And if it works, you'll still have your skin." Annabell approached her friends and the marks on their skin became increasingly red. The color continued to spread on their skin, and soon it would become raw flesh.
"If you're thinking of doing something, stop. Lizzy knows that attacking you directly won't work. In fact, what she did today can cause a lot of problems. She wants you to lose your mind, so people won't stand by you anymore." Diana had a serious tone. She didn't want to see Annabell becoming hated by people. "That's what Gael said, and from her actions, it seems to be true. Let me and little Rosa take care of her!" The blue-haired girl hugged her sister.
"This is so tiring and irritating! Maybe I'm a bit to blame for it, but it still bothers me. People only saw me at events, so I didn't have many issues with the image they had of me. Now, it seems like I have to be a being enlightened by patience and I can't even defend myself!" The princess didn't know whether to laugh or cry. "Their image of me is very literal. As if I were only kind and beautiful, or I lied to everyone. Not that it's a lie, but at official events I have to act in a certain way and for them that's an absolute truth!"
Annabell smiled, sometimes she worried about what people thought of her and what they expected, but she learned that she had no control over that. She just needed to be patient. After a year at the Academy, people would stop believing that Princess Annabell and Annabell were identical.
Annabell let out a long sigh and left the bathroom. She was going to the library. Annabell took a longer route, avoiding the crowd of people. She knew that if she met too many people, she would have to talk about what had happened before. The corridors were almost empty.
The library was a complete desert, who would be in that place when a huge "event" had just happened. The library had almost no visitors. Most of the things the students needed, the dormitory building would take care of. This included a vast amount of books, only a few more specific subjects were found in the library.
Annabell walked among the shelves, in the central aisle, signs indicated the topics of the sessions. All those huge wooden shelves, completely filled with dusty books. Some books, the princess thought, had not been moved since they were placed there, in the research sections, Annabell doubted that any student ever stepped foot there.
"If they really taught something, we wouldn't need a 'healthy rivalry.' The standard education of the underground is not the most common, but it would be better than this thing" The tone was one of complete displeasure, that rivalry continued to exist because people fed it unnecessarily. Annabell had already understood that classes were just a way to improve skills for the games.
She continued walking, and after a few minutes, she found a section that seemed to have the type of book she was looking for. The sign was old and broken, making it difficult to read what was written on it. That section seemed to be completely ignored by people. It was no wonder, since nobody would be interested in several books about the Card Academy. The history of the Academy was all based on war, so it didn't seem to have anything important there.
"Not even the Academy can clean up after itself." she said quietly and with some disgust. Any book taken out of place would raise a huge cloud of dust. Annabell could already imagine the coughing fits coming.
The section on the history of the Card Academy was very simple, with only one bookshelf and a wooden table. On the table, there was only a small lamp, which Annabell doubted worked.
She started walking towards the section, but her face hit an invisible barrier. Her steps were so confident that the impact was strong, and a "TUC" sound was heard. The princess felt her nose hurt from the impact.
Annabell put her hand on her nose. She needed ice, or her nose would turn purple. She muttered low, cursing the person who put an invisible barrier there.
"Put a damn warning! It's not that hard!" she said loudly and sharply, and her eyes began to form small tears.
"We're sorry for the mishap, princess!" the voice was childlike and belonged to a boy. The princess jumped back and began to look around, looking for the owner of the voice. "Here, near the bookshelf." the laughter was gentle and with a contagious joy.
Annabell looked at the bookshelf, where a small blue light shone. Its movements were agitated, flying around the princess and going in all directions. Every spin that little fairy made, the laughter coming from the light increased. It seemed to be having fun with it.
The light stopped flying and became static in front of Annabell. It became stronger and approached her more and more.
"Sorry, princess, only authorized people can enter here. Only Class S students are allowed!" the fairy repeated that robotically, apparently having memorized the text.
The platinum-haired girl had already heard about Class S students, actually her siblings had told her a little about it. They said it was like a myth of the school. Class S students were exceptional, selected by the Academy. They would have unimaginable rights inside and outside the Academy.
The only problem was that over all these years, no one had been able to be considered a Class S student. People used to say that no one was worthy of receiving the Academy's favor.
