The entire Card Academy only talked about one name: Annabell Pynrius. The youngest daughter of the White Queen. That year she would study there.
Annabell was loved by everyone in the White Kingdom, they described her as the most beautiful and delicate flower in all Wonderland.
The Academy was founded after the Great War of Colors, when the two kingdoms faced each other for the second time. The Academy was an attempt to unite the people, putting aside past fights. The course it took was different. The two peoples remained separate, but their rivalry became less real, being present only in the Academy.
So the Card Academy became a place where only the best from the kingdoms would have the right to enter. At 18, if you were considered worthy, you would receive a letter and your name would appear on the huge list of freshmen in front of the building.
Annabell's name was the first to appear on the list. Which for half of the school was a huge relief, but the second name caused great dissatisfaction for these people. Ezariel Filandry, one of the strong candidates to assume the position of Jack of Hearts, responsible for the military organization of the Kingdom of Hearts. As the people of the White Kingdom say, 'Ezariel is a beast.'
Annabell and Ezariel were complete opposites, who from that year on would be the great representatives of the Lotus and Black Rose Dormitories.
The entire castle of the Academy was very well decorated. The members of the Yellow Sea Dormitory arrived earlier that year.
"This year's entry ceremony needs to be perfect." The dormitory members repeated it as if it were a motto.
The last time the school was so excited was 4 years ago when Annabell's twin brothers arrived at the Academy. One of them would be the future King of the White Kingdom.
Annabell wasn't even the successor to the throne, but for everyone in the Kingdom, she was their most precious and beloved piece.
Ezariel may have caused a lot of dissatisfaction, but he also caused the excitement of many. He was a great representative of the Kingdom of Hearts. Many believed that conflicts between the White Lotus and Black Rose Dormitories would be very intense this year.
"This ceremony needs to be spoken for the next thousand years."
... ΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩΩ...
All the seniors were gathered at the entrance of the castle and the large street leading to the entrance was empty, everyone was gathered on the grass. Black, White, Gold, and Silver decorations surrounded the entire school.
The ceremony, usually just a formality, was going to be a bit different that year due to the two special guests. It would be similar to the way they received the heir princes.
"As you all know, this year's Opening Ceremony will be different from other years. This year we will have a parade of our new students, in addition to our traditional dormitory selection. The Mar Yellow Dorm Chief says it will be the best of all years," the principal said excitedly, a huge smile taking over the woman's lips.
The excited students shouted.
"Open the gates!" The principal's voice echoed throughout the space.
When the gates were opened, a huge red carpet stretched out along the street. White doves were released and flew through the sky, dropping flower petals in the colors of the decorations.
On the right side of the huge avenue, a woman began to walk.
She was simply stunning. Her dress was white, with small green embroidery, and a voluminous skirt. Silver details surrounded her waist, and the only touch of bright color was a golden stone in the center of her waist, accompanied by a silver V-shaped outline. The sleeves were loose, long, and made of a nearly transparent fabric. The cape on her shoulders was made of the same fabric as the sleeves and covered the woman's shoulders, reaching down to the ground.
Her white hair reached her waist, with small curls forming at the tips to give volume to her hair. On top of her head was a simple crown. Her makeup was striking and enhanced the girl's beauty. It wasn't extravagant, but her bright red lips were the most eye-catching. Her brown eyes conveyed kindness and immense joy. She never stopped smiling for a second.
Annabell felt like she was in a magical moment, but it wasn't as "amazing" as she imagined. It was a little scary. She would be in that Academy for five years. She could only talk to her parents on special dates, and vacations lasted only one week.
She didn't show her thoughts, she kept smiling and thanking people. She needed to give security to people. Everyone there believed that the Academy was the best way to avoid a great war.
"Stop smiling so much, it looks like your face will tear apart," Annabell resisted the urge to roll her eyes. She turned her face and looked at the redhead on the white horse. "It's irritating," she had spent almost two hours next to that man. Every comment of his was unbearable.
The man had a fierce appearance, compared to the princess, his clothing was even simple. He wore a black and red leather coat with golden details. An enormous black belt marked his waist. His bright red hair was messy, his gaze was not friendly, on the contrary, it seemed like he would kill the first person who appeared in front of him.
"If you tried to smile, you wouldn't be so unbearable," Annabell turned to look at the people celebrating their arrival.
Neither of them spoke until they reached the stairs that would lead to the Castle entrance. Ezariel got off his horse and gave a conceited smile to the princess.
"Can't you climb the stairs? You should call one of them, they're crazy to do a favor for the lovely princess," his sarcasm was clear.
Annabell ignored his comment and held the skirt of her dress, starting to climb the stairs. The director recommended that Ezariel hold the princess's hand and help her climb, but that was just a distant dream of the director.
"If you keep standing like a pole, it's you who will need help," she looked back just to smile at him. Unlike the redhead, her smile was not sarcastic.
When they both reached the top, the director opened a huge smile. She hugged each of them before speaking with enthusiasm.
"It is a great honor to receive two great representatives of your respective kingdoms. We know it's not easy to get here," the students started applauding. "It's a much-awaited moment for everyone, and no one can explain the excitement of receiving both of you. This year will be full of new stories, but before starting the story of our future students, some announcements need to be made."
"This year the Wonderland Cup will take place, where a representative from each dormitory will be chosen to compete in this wonderful event! In addition to our traditional competition between dormitories, of course," said one of the teachers responsible for the school's events excitedly.
"Now let's have Annabell and Ezariel say a few words." A table with a microphone appeared in front of Annabell, decorated with various white flowers.
"I don't even know how to thank you for this wonderful reception. I was extremely happy when I found out my name was first on the list for this year. Many expect great things from me, and I hope to meet their expectations," she waved to some of the students. "And thank you to the Yellow Sea Dormitory for this incredible event!"
All the students began to applaud and cheer. White and pink roses flew in the air. The principal waited for the students to calm down before switching the microphone, now decorated with hearts and spades instead of white flowers. Before starting to speak, Ezariel laughed quietly.
"I appreciate the reception. This year, I commit to doing my best to bring pride to the Kingdom of Hearts and prove that things will be different. This time victory will be ours," the people's shout was enthusiastic, but they seemed like a war cry.
The principal seeing the excitement of the students decided to intervene.
"Well, let's start selecting the dormitories. Everyone will be taken to the Arena Theater."
Don't be fooled. People didn't walk to the Theater, in a simple magic trick, everyone was sent to the Theater.
The place was all open, and the sound of birds could be heard. Like the entrance to the Castle, the Theater was all decorated, but the colors were divided. Each one represented a dormitory.
In the middle of the quad, items were displayed. The first was a White Lotus Flower. In the second, a Black Rose. The third was two Joker Cards. Finally, a painting with a Yellow Sea. The principal began to speak about the importance of choosing the right dormitory. Regardless of anything imposed by family and friends. The right dormitory meant your home.
"What dormitory will the little princess choose?" He leaned towards her.
"For someone who can't stand me, you sure talk to me a lot," she pointed at him laughing quietly.
"It's hard to put up with all this annoyance, in silence. Talking to you is better than listening to her," the redhead made a disgusted face.
"Let's start with Annabell Pynrius!" The girl widened her eyes when she heard her name. The principal extended her hand to her and then pointed to the altars.
Annabell walked slowly towards the altars. She could still hear her father's voice telling her the meaning of each symbol.
"The first one is The White Lotus. It represents our Kingdom. We are widely recognized for our arts and kindness. Although most people from our Kingdom choose it, some residents from the Kingdom of Hearts also risk choosing it, as well as people without a Kingdom. Everyone is welcome."
"The second one is the Black Rose. It represents the Kingdom of Hearts. They say that everything ends with them, so they chose the Black Rose as their symbol. They are good at fighting and strategy. They are not very receptive to people from our Kingdom, so if someone from the White Kingdom enters there, they must prove themselves worthy."
"The third one is the Jokers. They have no side, always seeking their own benefit. They are not very trustworthy, but if one of them swears loyalty to you, do not doubt it, they do not lie about it. They are great at magic and have a strong connection with nature."
"And lastly, the Yellow Sea. Nobody really understands them, they're just there. Most of them support our Kingdom, they are very lively and friendly, but they also hold a lot of grudges. They are responsible for the Academy's events."
"Don't worry about what others say, when choosing your Dormitory, choose the place where you will be happiest. It's your life, my daughter."
