Ava's first month in Feralwood was uneventful. She spent her days unpacking and getting settled into her new home. One day as the sun began to set, Ava stepped outside to take in the fresh air. She heard a strange growling noise coming from the nearby woods and walked towards the sound, curious about its source. It reminded her of her dreams.
"What was that noise?" Ava muttered to herself.
She took a few more steps towards the woods, squinting her eyes to try and see through the trees.
"Hello? Is someone there?" Ava called out.
Suddenly, a black blur jumped out from the shadows, and Ava found herself pinned down by a snarling black wolf. She tried to free herself, feeling the wolf's hot breath on her neck.
Just as the wolf was about to bite down on her, a larger grey wolf with glowing eyes emerged from the darkness and pounced on the black wolf, causing it to release Ava. The two wolves began to circle each other, growling and snarling, ready for a fight.
"That's the wolf from my dream." She thought to herself.
Ava watched in awe as the two wolves clashed in an intense battle. The grey wolf was swift and agile, but the black wolf was relentless, using its size and strength to its advantage.
As the two wolves fought, the tension was palpable, and Ava felt her heart racing in her chest. Suddenly, the grey wolf let out a bone-chilling howl that echoed through the forest. Ava watched in amazement as the grey wolf's body began to contort and change, fur and muscles shifting and stretching, until a tall and muscular man stood in the grey wolf's place.
Ava couldn't help but be drawn to the man standing before her, his eyes gleaming like shards of yellow glass in the dim light. His features were etched with sharp angles and planes, giving him a striking, almost otherworldly appearance. His hair was a wild tangle of dark strands, as if he'd just emerged from some primordial forest, and the power emanating from him was palpable, a force she could feel deep in her bones, even from where she stood at a distance.
The black wolf took one look at the transformed werewolf and knew it was no match. With a low growl, it turned tail and ran away into the darkness, leaving Ava and the werewolf alone in the clearing.
The man extended his hand towards Ava and said, "I'm Jax, sorry for the scare. We don't get many visitors in these parts, especially not human ones."
Ava hesitated for a moment before taking his hand, still unsure of what to make of the situation. "I'm Ava," she replied softly, her voice barely above a whisper. "Are you a... werewolf?" She knew the legends but they were just that, legends or so she thought.
Jax smiled at her and said, "Well, Ava, welcome to Feralwood. I bet you have alot of questions, you're in for quite a ride."
Ava just nodded silently confused by the situation and Jax's stunning features.
Jax then introduced himself as the alpha of the Moonlight pack, adding with pride that he was also a werewolf.
"Are you hurt?" Jax said with concern. "I apologize for what happened, I was wanted to see you so bad, I got careless."
She shook her head, still in shock from what she had just witnessed.
Jax explained that the black wolf was a rogue, and that they had been tracking it for days. He thanked Ava for unwittingly leading him to the rogue.
Ava nervously smiled and nodded, grateful for the explanation.
"You're not feeling well, I can tell." He said in a apologetic voice. "I'll give you time to process all of this."
As Jax turned to leave, Ava couldn't help but feel drawn to him. She couldn't explain it but she felt like a part of her was walking away. She wanted to know more about the werewolf world and about Jax himself.
"I don't know how to thank you," Ava said, still in awe of Jax's transformation. "I had no idea that werewolves were real."
Jax gave her a small smile. "We've been around for a long time, Ava. We're experts at hiding."
"I see." She replied her eyes unable to look away from him.
Jax turned to leave, but before he could take a step, he felt a strange pull towards Ava. He turned around and looked at her, making eye contact with her for the first time. Ava felt a jolt of electricity run through her body, and her heart skipped a beat.
"What is this feeling?" Ava asked. "It feels so intense, I never felt like this before."
Jax cleared his throat, breaking the intense eye contact. "That's... the mate bond," he said, his voice tinged with regret. "We can't control when or with who it happens. I have to go, my pack needs me."
Ava felt a pang of disappointment. She didn't want him to leave, but she knew he had to.
As Jax began to walk away, a howl sounded in the distance. Jax turned to Ava, his yellow eyes locking onto hers once more. "I'll tell you everything next time." he said with a longing voice.
Ava nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. "Be safe," she said softly, watching as Jax transformed back into his wolf form and disappeared into the woods.
When Ava moves to a small town to live with her estranged father after her mother's sudden death, she never expected to find herself drawn to Jax, the enigmatic and brooding alpha werewolf. Their attraction is forbidden, as werewolves and humans are not allowed to mate. But when a rival pack threatens to take over Jax's territory, Ava finds herself caught in the middle of a dangerous war. As Jax struggles to balance his new responsibilities as alpha with his growing feelings for Ava, she discovers secrets about the werewolf world and Jax's family that put them both in danger. Betrayal from within Jax's own pack and casualties from the war put Ava's life on the line, and Jax must fight to protect her and his pack. As they face the consequences of their forbidden love, Jax and Ava must make a decision about their future together and the future of the pack. Will their love survive the challenges that lie ahead or will they be torn apart by the curse of the alpha?
