Ava knew that she had to tell her father about Jax. She couldn't keep their relationship a secret forever. But she also knew that telling him the truth would put Jax and his pack in danger. So, she decided to leave out the part about him being a werewolf.
As she sat across from her father at the kitchen table, Ava's nerves were on edge. She tried to steady her shaking hands as she spoke.
"Dad, I met someone," she began tentatively.
Her father looked up from his newspaper, his expression stern. "Who is it?" he asked.
"A guy named Jax," Ava replied.
Her father's expression darkened. "Jax? That troublemaker who's been in and out of jail? I don't want you anywhere near him."
Ava's temper flared. "You don't even know him, Dad! You're just going off rumors and hearsay. Jax is a good person, and I care about him."
Her father's eyes narrowed. "I don't care if he's a saint, I don't want you seeing him."
Ava could feel the anger building inside her. "You can't control who I see, Dad. I'm an adult, and I can make my own decisions."
Her father slammed his fist on the table. "Not under my roof, you can't! If you insist on seeing that Jax character, you can find somewhere else to live!"
With that, Ava stormed out of the kitchen and up to her room. She could hear her father's angry footsteps following her up the stairs.
As she slammed the door to her room shut, Ava collapsed onto her bed and buried her face in her pillow. She couldn't believe her father's reaction.
As Ava lay on her bed, she hugged her pillow tightly, feeling a mix of anger and sadness. She couldn't believe how closed-minded her father was being about Jax.
She knew that he had a reputation, but Ava had seen a different side of him - a kind and gentle side that her father would never understand. She replayed the conversation in her head, wishing she had handled it differently, but deep down she knew that her father would never accept Jax, werewolf or not. As she thought about Jax, she couldn't help but smile. His yellow eyes, his rugged charm, and the way he had swept her off her feet - she knew that she was falling for him, despite the dangers that lay ahead.
Ava had another dream that night. This time, she and Jax were both wolves running playfully through the forest. Their fur was shining under the moonlight, and their laughter echoed in the quiet of the night.
But then, something changed. The air grew thick, and Ava felt a sense of dread fill her. Suddenly, she heard a low growl coming from the darkness. They stopped running and turned around, only to see a mysterious figure approaching them. It wore a black cloak and a dark hat that concealed its face.
Jax tensed beside her, his fur bristling with unease. "Who are you?" he growled, baring his teeth.
The figure remained silent, its presence unsettling. Ava felt a chill run down her spine, and she couldn't shake off the feeling that something was wrong.
Suddenly, the figure lunged at them, and Ava woke up screaming.
She sat up in her bed, drenched in sweat, her heart racing. She looked around, trying to get her bearings. The moon was shining through the window, casting eerie shadows on the walls.
Ava took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. She couldn't shake off the feeling that something bad was about to happen. She knew she had to be careful, especially with the rival pack threatening Jax and his pack.
As Ava tried to fall back asleep, she couldn't help but wonder who that mysterious figure was and what it wanted. She knew that her life was about to get even more complicated, but she was determined to protect Jax and the pack at any cost.
When Ava moves to a small town to live with her estranged father after her mother's sudden death, she never expected to find herself drawn to Jax, the enigmatic and brooding alpha werewolf.
