In response, I scoffed and walked away.God I can't fucking stand him. I thought. I sipped my coffee then set it on the counter. Jun and I were the only two people present at the time. The rest usually come in around 9:50. I grabbed a spray bottle and cloth to wipe down the tables before customers came in. We usually don't get customers until 9:20.
I sprayed the tables with disinfectant and began wiping them down. We didn't have much time to clean up yesterday. Honestly, I do not care about the work I perform here by myself...Jun could help out every now and then, but whatever. It is what it is. I'd rather him not talk to me when I'm cleaning up. By the time I finished it was 9:38. The other employees should be here soon, or at least some should be.
After everyone had clocked in and gathered, the chatter began. It is not surprising that so many employees and new employees enter the building since it is a pretty spacious place. I picked up my coffee, noticing the cup was cold. I sighed. Should have drank it while I cleaned. I drank it anyway. Cold or not, it's still coffee. It's not like it's gonna kill me if I drink it.
"Hey Henry!" I heard my name called. I looked over to see my boss. Her appearance was tall and broad, and she wore an enthusiastic expression. I approached her quietly. "I must say you did a very nice job on the tables! It's pleasant to see that you aren't late for once as well." She smiled kindly.
"Mmm..I didn't feel like getting written up." I exclaimed. She nodded, understanding. "Oh miss, may I ask you something?" She looked at me and raised her eyebrows, intrigued. I asked, "When is the next raise to be given? I am so sorry to bother, but I have a few bills to pay and I am falling behind." She smiled.
"I'm afraid it won't be until next month. While I feel quite generous today, I will add money when I can since you did a fantastic job on the tables. I can't give you too much but it should be enough for this month." I nodded and thanked her for her kindness. After patting my shoulder, she proceeded to her office until she was needed.A sigh of relief escaped my lips as I drank the remainder of my coffee before grabbing a clipboard and accepting orders from the customer.
