About fifty minutes of driving an eighteen wheeler down the highway. They all unpack and it begins getting even more awkward between the friend group as they start to talk to each other like they are just regular friends like everyone else instead of practically brothers.
Aaron is at Pop Harvey's; he walks in and plops down on the couch. Pop Harvey walked downstairs with a shotgun.
“Oh shit! Boy, you can't just walk in any old man's house!” he shouted sarcastically.
“Pop, it's serious!” Aaron responded with a deep and serious voice.
Pop came and sat on the couch beside him and rubbed his back.
“I've been avoiding telling you because i didn't know how you’d feel about me afterwards but,”
Pop Harvey braced himself. He thought Aaron was about to come out to him. He knew his son was bisexual and he knew Zen was gay.
“It's not what you're thinking, pop,” Aaron continued.
“The other day Jean was killed, we aren't sure if it was another gang or the police, but he called me before it happened and told me not to tell the others he was alive just to pick him up but I told them anyway and right after his body was delivered to the porch. With a note saying I told you not to tell anyone. Chaser went crazy because of his strong relationship with Zen and he killed the police officer that was onto us and then told them where to arrest him. This is all my fault if i was a better leader none of this would've happened. I just don't understand. I mean I tried like you told me too. I just… I can't be a leader anymore and I want to have a vote to change the roles.” Aaron vented to pop.
Pop Harvey sighed with a sense of disappointment.
“Maybe you forgot but i got plugs and i did know that Jean died and i knew based on the news that Chaser was in prison. I do think you are fit to be a leader, you just don't see it in yourself yet. I am against your decision and I do not think you should back down as leader. I'll show weakness and that's not something you get from Aaron on the usual. I do support you as a person though and if this is what you want to do then I'll take you down to the gang and we’ll vote for a new leader and you can think about your speech for changing your mind in the car.” Pop responded with full support.
Aaron nodded his head and the two walked out the house. They got in the car and headed for the new home in an entire different state.
Meanwhile, Mason rambled unpacking everyone's bags except his own. He knew once Aaron got back from pop’s, he'd ask him to do it anyways. So he did it ahead of time. Mason came across a paper. The paper had no name and he wasn't quite sure who it belonged to so he read it.
Listen to this. The note started.
Mason read the note in shock. His face scrunched up and he was growing angry. He was confused and both mad at the exact same time. He couldn't believe the things he was reading. It was childish and Mason wasn't happy about it. AT ALL.
Just then Popp Harvey and Aaron walked through the door.
“Meeting!” Pop Harvey yelled across the house.
Everyone walked to the empty living room smiling. They all had a good relationship with Pop. He was always so welcoming and warm. He was an overall comforting person and anyone who met him would agree.
“So,” He started. “Most of you have never done this but this is called a Jynx C.O, Aaron here is backing down from being leader,” He said.
everybody ‘s jaw dropped.
“He decided that it's only fair if they vote who should be leader. So write who you think should be leader including everyone in this house right now except Aaron.” Pop explained while passing out papers.
Everyone wrote names and folded them and dropped them into a basket. Pop Harvey threw them around and pulled each one out.
“One Livvik,”
“One Mason,”
“One me,”
“One mason,”
“And one mason!”
Everyone paused. They weren't shocked as they all kind of expected Livvik or Mason to end up being leader. They all just felt different.
“Mason, are you okay with being a leader?” Pop Harvey asked.
Mason was asking himself the same thing inside his head. He wasn't sure what he wanted; he of the five didnt expect this. Mason stuttered and stuttered for almost a complete 3 minutes while the rest of them just stared at each other in silence.
“Can I think about it?” Mason finally speaks up.
“Think about it? Is that not what you were doing the past 3 minutes we’ve been sitting here?” Pop Harvey started with sarcasm.
No one was against Mason being leader. They all just got up and walked away. They honestly didn't really put any thought into anything that just happened. They didn't really need to either. Mason would make a great leader and so would Aaron but maybe Mason was what they needed in the beginning.
Mason walked up to aaron.
“Why?” Mason asked quietly.
“Dont worry about it.” Aaron responds quietly.
Mason did not question it, he just simply moved on with his day. He wasn't sure if he wanted to be leader he’d have to make no mistakes or he’d end up just like aaron. IF he didnt know that he would have no issue with being the leader.
