When you trust the corrector and find yourself with plenty of purses in your text but no purrs. XD

Charlie paced back and forth anxiously in the living room, not knowing how to strike the conversation with Mika. Said panther was currently in the bathroom, taking a hot, nearly burning bath, just how he liked them. Charlie had been pleasantly surprised when Mika had asked him for lavender shampoo at the beginning of their cohabitation. The shifter had known that the Vampire would buy him a shampoo and that there was no arguing with that, and thus he had taken the necessary courage to make a request. Of course, Charlie had bought the lavender shampoo, along with bath bombs of the same scent, back scrubs, body cream, massaging oil and an air refresher. 

Now, he had the pleasure of grooming a sleepy black cat smelling of lavender each night before the television, enjoying the soft purrs sent his way and the biscuit making of the black panther on his thigh.

Hearing the bath being drained, Charlie straightened up, fixing imaginary creases on his shirt before turning his attention back to the closed door. He had prepared plenty of mint ice cream, chocolate chips cookies and jellybeans for the night, ready to bribe the young man into forgiving him. 

It was, after all, Charlie’s fault for not informing his friend, Damian, of the situation. 

The Vampire King was known to dislike blood. He had been born a vampire, a pure blood, but since his childhood, he had only consumed blood when necessary. It was said that his mother, having been forced by his father to bear him, had decided to take her revenge on the poor child, making sure to traumatize him enough so that he would find blood repugnant. This was why Charlie hadn’t thought of telling Damian not to drink Mika’s blood before the Vampire King, not thinking much of it.

It was pretty serious for a vampire to hate feeding, all their powers came from the act. It only showed that the Vampire King was truly fitting of his title, as not only did he not grow weaker, he was even stronger than the last King, his father. The cruel man had been beheaded by his own son when the young man turned eighteen, years ago, and it was a true deliverance for all the Vampire community. 

The tyrant had been ruling the vampires with a firm hand, forcing his old beliefs on them and making arranged marriages left and right to maintain the pureness of their blood. No one had been able to refuse.

Which is why, even though the current Vampire King didn’t feed normally like other vampires, the Council didn’t bother him and no revolution was planned. Of course, they still shared the same blood, so the Vampire King was known to be pretty cold-blooded with no hesitation when killing someone, but he was still better than his father.

At least, he was more open-minded and didn’t mind if they mixed with other races. Anyways, Charlie still feared the man, for good reasons too, and from what he heard about him from his best friend, he knew that the King asked for the panther’s blood in an amicable way, but that it was in fact an order. Not giving it would probably result in being arrested and then interrogated. 

For someone like the King, that hated blood, finding one to his liking was a miracle, it had never happened before.

Charlie had to explain all this situation to Mika, crossing his fingers that the black panther would react in a good way and not have another Episode. Thus, he had prepared things to comfort the young man while telling him all this information. Now, he only needed Mika to get out of the bathroom and take matters into his own hands.

The Vampire of at least 6 feet flinched as the door opened, letting the 5.8 feet tall shifter leave the bathroom while ruffling his dark mane with a towel. Water droplets slided down his olive skin. The attractive man was wearing an open collar shirt, showing his smooth collarbone, his prominent Adam's apple, but also the scars running down his skin, mostly on the top of his back and continuing behind the fabric. 

The shirt’s end rose as Mika raised his arms above his head to pass the towel behind his head, revealing his strong waist and his six packs. As a doctor, Charlie was greatly surprised the few times he had seen all the slim muscles on Mika’s body. Even though he was, and still is but not as much, severely malnourished, Mika was still built like a true warrior.

It only showed how hellish his training must have been.

Just imagining a young Mika with droopy panther ears and teary turquoise eyes, his chubby tail between his legs as his shaky hands held a sword, facing a cold-hearted adult ready to hurt him broke Charlie’s heart. He really wanted to find whoever did this to his little shifter and make them pay tenfold.

The sweatpants Mika was wearing hung low on his wide hips, letting his tail swish freely behind him with irritation to get rid of the water. Charlie watched with nervous eyes as Mika bypassed him after giving him a curious look, only the small pitter-patter of his naked feet heard as he went behind him and sat on the floor, just before the sofa.

The Vampire gulped, feet trailing on the floor as he slowly made his way to the couch. He sat on it, getting behind Mika so he could blow his fur with the hairdryer that had found itself a new permanent place on the side of the couch since the two men had started this little bonding ritual.

In sort of a way to try and cover what he was going to say, Charlie made the cowardly move of starting to blowdry Mika’s fluffy hair. He let the loud sound out for a few minutes, before finally finding his courage back and announcing the news to Mika.

Charlie’s heart slowly broke as Mika’s body stiffened despite his efforts to cover the sound, informing him that the black panther had heard him loud and clear, and that he was not happy with the information.

The Doctor just hoped that Mika would eat some of what he bought before falling into another Episode.
