Takitsu put on a simple summer black yukata and left the house. After so many months, he was finally able to complete the task from Tansetsuki.
By the way, after hikouri saw his another nightmare, he visited his Midtimes twice. Once, because he wanted to know, if everything is okay. And then he called him in June, because he wanted to just... talk.
It was weird. People rarely wanted to talk with him. Clients contacted him only because of comissions. If he denied their requests or told them to come later, they usually chose another yubiwa.
But Tansetsuki was stubborn. As a mule. Takitsu didn't remember, when was the last time, when he met someone as stubborn as him. Should he count his ex-girlfriend? At least she gave up, when he changed his number for the third time.
Oh, or his the first real girlfriend. Yeah, she was stubborn too. Sometimes he regretted he had met her at such a bad time. He should reconnect with her and congratulate her on finding a husband, whom she doesn't have to drag out of his nervous breakdown all the time.
Well, Kanzu was stubborn too. Kanzu's older brother, Reimo was stubborn as well. But Reimo was rather... firm? Constant in his beliefs? Maybe it was his own version of stubborness. Reimo's girlfriend, Noichi, on the other hand, was meticulously trying to make Reimo smile all the time. And she usually succeeded, which was strange because Reimo was just... terribly stiff.
It seemed Takitsu just liked stubborn people. Except for Taketsumi. Taketsumi was downright annoying.
He got on the train and put his headphones on. He wondered what people thought when they saw a young man in a black kimono looking out the window. Did he listen to traditional Japanese music? Something classic? Pop? Angura Kei?
They would probably be horrified, if they heard even a minute of that screaming and growling. Takitsu chuckled under his breath just imagining their expressions.
He left the train at his stop. A cold wind ruffled his hair and brushed his cheeks. He put on his mask and looked at his watch.
Time to get to work.
"And zhen I zaid he's stooopid" some youngster, maybe about his age or even younger, was leaning against the wall and talking to his two friends.
He was drunk. They were too, but not so much.
Pathetic.
"So, he's still not ova his Rai?" asked the second youngster.
"Rei" corrected him the third one.
"Wasn't his namm Rui?" the first one scratched his head. "Fuck it, it's just short form."
Takitsu thought that all of them are really, really stupid. Or just that drunk.
"Soma, but... How d'ya wanna go home?" asked "the Rai one".
"By car, why d'ya ask?" Soma shrugged.
"Whut? Ar'ya crazy?" asked "the Rei one", vissibly iindigant.
"Eazy, Saku, he's probly just joking" said "the Rai one and patted his shoulder.
"Sousuke, zhe last time he "joked" like zhat, he almost ran over doggie" reminded him Saku.
"I'll be faaaine" Soma waved his hand.
"Give me keys" Saku grabbed his arm.
"Leave me, Saku" Soma pushed him, causing him to fall over.
Really, pathetic.
"Saku!" Sousuke knelt beside him and Soma just ran as fast as he could.
Takitsu sighed and tripped him. Soma fell on the sidewalk, not even trying to catch his balance.
"I didn't even have to use my powers" Takitsu grabbed Soma's hair. "Do you know, what's going to happen, if you'll drive now?"
"Lemme go you dwarf in stoopid mask!" squeaked Soma.
He had a squeaky voice anyway, but now it literally hurt Takitsu's ears. Yubiwa sighed and stopped time, leaving only Soma in motion.
"Listen, you incompetent member of society" growled Takitsu, clenching fingers on drunk man's hair. "Do you want to kill a young man, his pregnant wife and their small daughter just because you can't think logically?"
Soma blinked.
"...whut?"
"You heard me" replied Takitsu. "That's what's going to happen. These are the consequences. Innocent people will suffer. They'll lose their lives because one fool couldn't give his buddies his car keys."
"They're drunk too" Soma pointed out.
"But they're not that stupid" Takitsu let go of his hair. "If you want to rot in prison with a lot of remorse, go ahead. But if I were you, I would reconsider it. You're too young to waste your life."
Time started to flow again. Sousuke and Saku, who didn't hear the most of this conversation, stopped suddenly, not understanding, why this man, who attacked Soma, just vanished.
And Takitsu, calmly heading over to the train station, fell soft coldness of changing time.
