Ava and Jax sat in the uncomfortable plastic chairs of the small interrogation room at the local police station. Ava fidgeted with her hair while Jax stared blankly at the wall. They had been questioned for over an hour, but the police officers didn't seem satisfied with their answers.
"Look, we've told you everything we know," Ava said, her voice tinged with frustration. "My father was kidnapped and the masked weirdos wanted us to bring the ransom money. They said that if we called the police, they were going to..."
The interrogation room fell silent for a moment before one of the police officers' phone rang. He stepped out of the room to take the call, leaving Ava and Jax alone.
"What do you think is going on?" Jax asked, finally breaking the silence.
"I don't know," Ava replied, shaking her head. "But I just hope my dad is okay."
The officer returned to the room, his expression softer than before. "We've just received word from our colleagues that your father is currently at the hospital undergoing a medical examination, but he's expected to make a full recovery." He said. "He confirmed your story."
Ava let out a sigh of relief, feeling like a huge weight had been lifted off her shoulders. "Thank god," she said, her voice shaky. "Can we go see him?"
The officer nodded. "Of course. But before you go, we'll need you to fill out some paperwork and answer a few more questions. It's standard procedure."
Ava and Jax nodded, grateful for the news about Ava's father. They spent the next hour filling out paperwork and answering the officers' questions. As they left the police station, Ava's mind raced with questions about her father's kidnapping.
As they left the police station, Ava couldn't help but wonder who could have tipped off the rival pack about their relationship.
"Do you have any idea who could have told them?" Ava asked Jax.
Jax looked deep in thought. "There might be a traitor in our pack," he finally said.
Ava's eyes widened in shock. "What? How do you know that?"
"It's just a hunch," Jax admitted. "But it's the only explanation I can think of. The rival pack seemed to know too much about us.
Ava felt a chill run down her spine. She had always known that being a werewolf came with its dangers, but she never expected that there could be a traitor in their own pack.
"What are we going to do?" Ava asked, feeling overwhelmed.
"We need to investigate and find out who the traitor is," Jax said, his tone serious. "But we have to be careful. We don't want to jump to any conclusions without proof."
Ava nodded, feeling a newfound sense of determination. She was going to do everything in her power to protect her pack and her loved ones.
"We'll get through this, Ava," Jax said, his voice soft. "We'll find the traitor and make sure they never hurt anyone in our pack again. As far as im concerned, your father is also part of our pack, even if he doesn't know about us."
Ava smiled awkwardly "I told him about us the other day, he was... very... loud."
"I don't care what anyone else thinks," Jax said, taking Ava's hand in his. "I know what I feel, and what I feel is real. I care about you, Ava. More than I ever thought was possible." He leaned in, his lips inches away from hers. "I want to be with you, no matter what."
Ava's heart fluttered in her chest as she gazed into Jax's eyes. She felt drawn to him, as if they were two halves of a whole.
As much as she wanted to loose herself with Jax, she had something more important right now.
"I'm sorry my love, but I can't do this right now, I gotta go check on my father at the hospital." She said in a low voice. "We can meet up tomorrow at our usual spot."
Jax stepped back. "Of course, I apologize for that." He said. "Our wolf nature is ay its strongest after we fight for the ones we love."
Ava still had alot to learn about werewolves, but she understood. She had figured as much based on what she had been researching by herself.
"See you tomorrow my love." She whispered longingly.
Ava went to the hospital to see her father, she noticed that a small group from Jax's pack. They been following her. As they got closer, she realized that they were Jack's enforcers, they were sent to make sure no other wolves got near her and her father.
