Starting Over

May 09, 2023

The night air was thick with the sound of revving engines and the scent of gasoline as the two racers took their positions at the starting line. The man, dressed in black leather with a confident smirk, revved the engine of his sleek sports car. The woman, dressed in a tight-fitting racing suit and with a determined expression, revved the engine of her bright red racing car.

As the lights changed, they both shot off into the darkness, their cars streaking down the winding road.

Lisan's car was fast, and she was skilled at maneuvering it, but he was a seasoned racer with a finely tuned machine. They weaved and dodged through the turns, their headlights illuminating the road ahead as they pushed their cars to the limit.

Lisan was gaining on him, but he wasn't giving up easily.

He took a sharp turn with precision, his car hugging the road tightly as he pulled ahead.

Lisan was close behind, her car inches away from his rear bumper.

As they approached the final stretch, Lisan pushed her car even harder, determined to win.

He could feel her presence behind him, and he knew he had to act fast. He took a calculated risk and swerved sharply to the left, hoping to throw her off her game. But she was ready for it.

With a quick maneuver, she swerved to the right, gaining a momentary advantage.

They were neck and neck, their cars speeding down the road in a blur of color and light. With one final burst of speed, Lisan pulled ahead and crossed the finish line just ahead of the man. The crowd cheered as she slammed on the brakes, her car skidding to a stop.

He pulled up next to her, his face twisted in disappointment.

"You again! Good race," she said with a grin, giving him a thumbs up.

He nodded, begrudgingly admitting defeat. "Yeah, you got me this time."

Lisan laughed, feeling the rush of adrenaline from the intense race. And she said:'' Hello Bibars, Nice to meet you" He smiled and said, "Well, nice to meet you too."

And it was like the first encounter, the first greeting, and starting from scratch.

It was like a confession, "I'm glad to see you again," or maybe "I'm happy that we meet again, and we will again, and more times." Or perhaps, "Let's meet more often, or let's be together more often."

I like this. They needed a fresh start.

My sister and her husband took a class at a race course once. He felt bad because he expected to be way better and she left him in the dust. He didn't know her when she was a teen outrunning the local police Dukes of Hazzard style, only as the calm mother and professional she is now. 🤣🤣
